“Security issue and decor needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

We experienced a security issue: the door to our room would not lock from the outside consistently. It could be opened by firmly putting pressure on the door handle to open the door. Hotel staff was not available for me to address this issue, although I did document it in the survey we were asked to fill out. I could not get the in-room safe to work. For the price of the stay, I have stayed in better and nicer hotels for less expense. The decor of the hotel overall is "tired". The wifi finally worked on my phone on the last day of our stay. The saving graces for my stay were the unbelievably fresh and cool pool (was a life savor for cooling off during the hot afternoons) and the delicious "typical" Costa Rican breakfast that I enjoyed.

the room has no window to speak of, it was glass window with curtain that you cannot open. the bathroom is very small with no hot water with sink outside in the bedroom. Bedding are faded and old. room basically is quite small. housekeeping is fair.

First quick note: GPS might try to take you to he wrong place, but dont despair, just ask people and work your way to the main bar/restaurant street to find the "soccer field" they use as a point of reference.

The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The room is huge and clean. The pool was our favorite part as well as the fact that they were 1 block from the beach.

Second note: Even if youoay through Expedia or any other 3rd party payer, they may hold your creditcard, and even if you pay in cash, they will charge 50 cents to "close out" the transactions. This is not a problem if you have no international transaction fees, or fees based on a percentage, but if you have a card that charges you a flat rate per swipe, this may cost you a large amount of money for such a tiny faux transaction,

There are many hotels in Coco to choose from, but for sure the Coco Palms has the best location. It is literally on top of the beach and minutes away from all the bars and restaurants.the rooms are quite basic but clean and fresh,The pool was beautiful and the adjoining patio area very pretty and designed well with plenty of plants ,flowers and a cubby hole with a hammock chair.Wi fi was easy to get in all areas.I have to say though we were most impressed with the restaurant. We had pizza for lunch the first day and it was delicious. The sushi at dinner was the best I have ever had.My husbands only complaint was that his chicken wings were too small.Would definately recommend staying here and eating here

Our last 3 days in Costa Rica were spent in Playas del Coco. We had been backpacking so we thought we would splurge a little for our last few nights. This hotel has a great location. Close to the beach and main street but far enough away so the noise from the bars wasn't too loud. Beautiful pool, comfy bed. We had #37 & the fridge kept my beer nice & cold, ac was wonderful, and the safe was an added bonus. Huge balcony overlooking the pool. Staff were amazingly friendly & the ultimate selling point....24 hr convenience store just outside the main door. Amazing water pressure in the shower with actual hot water. Loved it!! Would definetly recommend this hotel. Reasonably priced, nice & clean.

Room Tip: #37 is an end room so you only have one room beside you. Your not sandwiched between 2 rooms, which...

We recently stayed 10 nights at this wounderful quaint place. Clean rooms, friendly staff, personal service and great location all combine to provide a unique 'local' experience you can't get in a mega resort. Kevin (he swears that's his real name) is always around and will know your favorite drink the first day your there, or he will create a new favorite for you. The owners (husband and wife) are very accessable and eager to make your stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are quite different. Ask to see a number of them to find one you like best.
