My new wife and I went on a tour of the national park in Rincon on the last day of our honeymoon and we couldn't have imagined a better experience. First of all, the staff was incredibly professional and accommodating: we were picked up right from our resort right on time and the driver was nice enough to stop by an ATM for us as well as take us to a local store to pick up some supplies for the day's hike. At first we assumed the hour and half drive to the park would be quiet and boring, but our guide (Miguel), was very friendly and engaging; he explained the park and our options to us in great detail so we would be able to make the most of the day. He even helped us practice our Spanish (my wife mostly, I still have a lot to learn), being very patient with us and also taking the time to explain things in English when necessary. Once we arrived at the park and started hiking he made sure to point out all the local flora and fauna, giving us details on all of it as we went. We had plenty of questions and he was very receptive and taught us a great deal throughout the day--everything from the national tree to the behavioral habits of local wildlife and the aggressive life cycle of ficus trees. Something else that we really, really appreciated (though it may seem small) is that Miguel was not only patient while we took pictures, but even pointed out great spots for photo opportunities and kept taking the pictures for us so that my wife and I could both be in the shot (there were only two of us, so it was actually very helpful). We had an amazing day full of hiking, education (environmental, geographical, and Spanish/Espanol), swimming, mud baths, hot springs, great conversation and beautiful scenery; Rincon is an excellent place to visit and offers visitors plenty of options to suit pretty much anyone. Whether you want to stomp your way up and down the hills and mountains or relax in the hot springs and work on your tan, it's absolutely perfect there and we are very glad that we let Native's Way take us (they even threw in a free lunch). We are definitely going back to Costa Rica for our one-year anniversary and we will definitely be enlisting the services of Native's Way again--they have several other tours which include horseback riding, zip line courses, tubing, and much, much more.
Thanks, again, Miguel ¡Pura Vida!
