Although this is called a hotel, don't let the name fool you. It is a bed and breakfast. There is NO staff on in the evenings at all so make sure you have your plans covered. The inn is clean although slightly aging and the staff are nice. Coach will make you feel right at home as he greets you topless with a big grin. Welcome! The place is about a 10 minute walk to the beach in a lovely gated community and is also about a 10 minute drive to town. The breakfast that is included is excellent and the servers/room attendants are very nice.

The pool is clean, but if you are a weaker swimmer, be careful...the shallow end drops off to the deep end very quickly.

I rated the restaurant very good (only breakfast) because the value of the breakfast is exceptional. Also they don't mind you using the kitchen to prepare your own food (bonus!!)

The hotel is comfortable and nice, it gave the sense of a family oriented atmosphere
The staff at the hotel is nice, friendly and willing to help; they provided us with useful tips like the ability of guests to make use of the excellent Beach Club in Playa Ocotal.
I enjoyed my visit and look forward to staying there again soon

The Hotel Villa Casa Blanca is a charming boutique hotel situated a few hundred metres from the picturesque Playa Ocotal. The rooms are tastefully decorated, though not overly large, but clean and cool.
The covered ocean view terrace provided a great location for the generous and tasty breakfast, monitored by three watchful green parrots. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, giving useful tips like the ability of guests to make use of the excellent Beach Club in Playa Ocotal.
Travellers without a car might find it a handicap staying here especially in the evening as Playa Ocotal is a very quiet location without nightlife, apart from one excellent beach restaurant called Father Rooster. However, guests can use the communal kitchen in the 'rancho' of Villa Blanca to make simple meals.
If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway this is your place.

We stayed for 3 nights, spending the days diving with Rocket Frog Divers right on the beach. Very friendly folks and great boat/ equipment.

Our room was clean but a little dark (#7). Breakfast was great and included fresh fruit.
We were the only guests for 2 nights, it was very quiet and relaxing especially at night out on the big patio. The staff was helpful, although not always around.
The hotel is for sale so there might be some changes in the near future.

We really enjoyed being able to use the Beach Club facilities about 10 min down the street. Hot showers, a pool, towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. Also free wifi if you feel like reading the news.
Father Rooster serves outstanding meals right on the beach. We did walk to Picante, approx. 15 min over the hill, another great place for a nice dinner.
The beach in Ocotal is good for snorkeling and swimming.
It's a great place to relax and get away. Get some snacks and beers for the evenings and you will not even have to leave Ocotal for several days - enjoy lazy days in the sun.

The best value for your money! The staff was amazing! we felt as we were at home.
Just down to earth people serving people. We went to town a few times, they always help arrange for a cab. The Day we left they arrived extra early so we could be served breakfast before we left.
The room we had was great, we had the ocen View. The Gardens were nicely kept.

This is a very nice bed and breakfast hotel at which we enjoyed staying during our visit to the area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were very good. There is free wifi. They have laundry services for a reasonable fee. Also, it has a nice little pool and a spa next to the pool. We stayed in honeymoon room #11 that had the shower rather than the tub (which was in the other honeymoon room). It was comfortable and had a huge shower. The bathroom was a bit small but we were able to work around it. (It would have been nice if the room would have had an additional mirror somewhere other than the bathroom.) The only real negative was the TV was postage stamp sized. Obviously, we didn’t come to Costa Rica to watch TV, but it would have been nicer with a larger TV.

The breakfasts were very good. We were pleasantly surprised that we had three different choices for breakfast (fried/scrambled eggs and chorizo; omelet with ham, cheese and/or green onions; pancakes – and all could include rice and black beans and fresh fruit) and all of them were very good. Also, since it was the slow season (we were actually the only ones at the hotel during our stay), they allowed us to use the outdoor fridge to store sodas and beers. A very nice perk that we certainly wouldn’t have gotten had the hotel been fuller.

A few tips for when you stay. Bring your own hair dryer and shampoo. Also, be aware that you are a $6 taxi ride to Playas del Coco with a $6 return. There is a nice restaurant/bar a short walk from the hotel (Father Roosters) on Ocotal beach, but Playas del Coco has more to offer and you’ll certainly want to go into Coco to eat, drink and shop. If you stay for an extended period, you’ll likely want to rent a car to tour the surrounding beaches and sights and to drive to and from Coco. None of these are negatives, just things to be aware of.

We were happy with our stay and would stay again.
