“Nice Bed & Breakfast small hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This is a very nice bed and breakfast hotel at which we enjoyed staying during our visit to the area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were very good. There is free wifi. They have laundry services for a reasonable fee. Also, it has a nice little pool and a spa next to the pool. We stayed in honeymoon room #11 that had the shower rather than the tub (which was in the other honeymoon room). It was comfortable and had a huge shower. The bathroom was a bit small but we were able to work around it. (It would have been nice if the room would have had an additional mirror somewhere other than the bathroom.) The only real negative was the TV was postage stamp sized. Obviously, we didn’t come to Costa Rica to watch TV, but it would have been nicer with a larger TV.

The breakfasts were very good. We were pleasantly surprised that we had three different choices for breakfast (fried/scrambled eggs and chorizo; omelet with ham, cheese and/or green onions; pancakes – and all could include rice and black beans and fresh fruit) and all of them were very good. Also, since it was the slow season (we were actually the only ones at the hotel during our stay), they allowed us to use the outdoor fridge to store sodas and beers. A very nice perk that we certainly wouldn’t have gotten had the hotel been fuller.

A few tips for when you stay. Bring your own hair dryer and shampoo. Also, be aware that you are a $6 taxi ride to Playas del Coco with a $6 return. There is a nice restaurant/bar a short walk from the hotel (Father Roosters) on Ocotal beach, but Playas del Coco has more to offer and you’ll certainly want to go into Coco to eat, drink and shop. If you stay for an extended period, you’ll likely want to rent a car to tour the surrounding beaches and sights and to drive to and from Coco. None of these are negatives, just things to be aware of.

We were happy with our stay and would stay again.

“Very relaxing and very friendly staff :) Just like home with the beach on the backyard..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

I recommend this place to everyone who wants to forget the city and the pressures of job. This place is very quite and calm, the beautiful beach is very close and you can enjoy it all day because only a few people get there. One of those days when we were there we had the chance of seeing some unexpected dolphins even the locals were surprised because they said they have never seen dolphins in that area and that close like 5 metters from the beach it was amazing! The pool is private and the weather is perfect. Besides they offer different options if you want to go fishing or doing somethig else.
I spent two days with my wife and we had an excellent time on last July, everything is very close the supermarkets, drugstores, souvenir shops, and differents places if you want to go out and have fun. Modesta and Nestor were just great!!

Room Tip: Any room will be ok!

“Best of B&B and Elegant Villa feel. Close to beach and town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

My husband and daughter stayed our last night in the hotel and it was one of our favorite places to stay. The pool is private and beautiful and the veranda/deck is so inviting. The location was perfect. We felt close to everything and yet far enough away to feel safe and relaxed. The rooms were perfect for a family (several beds in one room) or several friends traveling. Rooms included a nice breakfast which was a great way to start the day. We'll be back! We also loved the charming and very entertaining pet birds at the hotel. Ole' Suzie! This would be a great place for small groups of friends and/or family.

Room Tip: Ask Danny the manager or the Owner for recommendations of what to see in the area....

“Like staying with family, but better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

Modesta saved our vacation! Our travel agent sent us somewhere else, which was terrible. A local man called Modesta, who made accommodations for us on a moments notice. The room was clean, cool, and away from the party noise of Playas del Coco. We loved Fatima's and Letti's breakfasts of eggs or french toast, fresh fruit, and gallo pinto (wonderful rice and beans). Loved the veranda for breakfasts and chatting. It was fun to compare adventures with other guests. The outdoor kitchen allowed me to conserve money by eating in, but restaurants were within walking distance. The hotel at the pool was the right size and within sight so I could still watch my kids while fixing lunch or dinner. My daughter especially got a kick out of the bar stools in the pool next to the kitchen. Casa Blanca has agreements with 3 other nearby pools, two are right on Ocotal beach. The third pool has an adjacent workout room. Although, there is no need to work out in a gym if one chooses to "walk the ridge" with Coach Danny in the morning. Great workout and beautiful views of Papagayo bay! The gardens around Casa Blanca are beautiful even in the dry season. Modesta and her staff are excellent hosts, helping arrange or give directions for tours or local (free) attractions. Modesta even shared her aloe plant with my son when he refused my efforts to apply sunscreen. The girls provided laundry service for a modest fee. We left our laundry in bags outside the door and found them clean, sorted, and folded when we returned. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I have recommended this hotel to others and can't wait to return.

“Beauty Off the Beaten Track- The Best B&B in Costa Rica!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Casa Blanca is a true beauty off the beaten path and very boutique like! A unique Costa Rican experience surrounded by luscious nature and a pleasurable stay from start to finish! Delicious fruit, pancakes and coffee in the morning accompanied by the birds and a stunning view. Loved walking to Ocotal Beach and of course the tres lux exclusive Beach club. Sincerely the best hospitality ever- thanks for a wonderful stay and fabulous time! See you again very Soon!
