Because our timeshare couldn't accommodate our schedule for outings, they referred Alex to us. Although initially hesitant to use a private guide, we were thrilled we took the chance! As there were 5 of us, having a private tour was actually cheaper. It was also personalized, flexible, and took us places no other group could- such as a hidden waterfall, traditional breakfast atop a mountain, cooked on an wood fired oven (biggest surprise there were the immaculate modern bathrooms!) and other authentic Costa Rican locations. Alex himself enjoyed showing his country, and spoke with great pride and knowledge of all Costa Rica is and was. He was also a true naturalist, genuinely thrilled with the wildlife sightings (which abounded, due to his knowledge of the countryside) and sharing his excitement with us. And funny! Day after day he would pick us up in the van and off we would go exploring, returning home with our sides hurting from laughing. He shares his opinions openly, and this often led to lively discussions on cultural differences (ask him his views on Santa Claus). For a family of five women, of all different ages, to agree that this was our best time ever, you know it had to be good!
