Villa Italia is a bit of a hidden restaurant in Playas del Coco. My husband and I were staying at Rancho Armadillo and the owner had recommended it for those who like Italian food (and we do!). We didn't ask for directions prior to going as we hadn't decided where we were going to eat until dinner time was around the corner so we were a bit unsure if we were going in the right direction. Especially in the dark, the signs aren't very well lit but we eventually got there and were very glad.
The owners are a lovely Italian couple, everything is made fresh. It's not a very large restaurant so during busy season, busier times you may need a reservation, but we went right at around 6pm and were the first ones there. As we were leaving, more guests were coming and the place was getting busier, so you may have to wait a bit if you come during a peak time. However it's worth the wait.
They're very friendly and the restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. We went for dinner and there were beautiful lights throughout creating some really nice ambiance. The food was very good as well. Homemade pastas - I had the ravioli. Was delicious!
We were disappointed that we didn't get the chance to go again.
