Owner description: Why choose Sea Bird Sailing Excursions over the others? Sea Bird is a luxurious, romantic, classic sailboat strong enough to sail around the world but is here, at your service in the entire area of the Gulf of Papagayo, to take your group on a unique, customized excursion, especially suited for YOU. We never over pack the boat on "group" tours, and private tours are a very affordable option if you prefer to have the whole boat to yourself, along with our captain and crew of course. We are a family business, enjoying our lives and livelihood, and this is our only boat. We are not a big corporation bringing in busloads of tourists to board our ship. We focus on smaller groups and customized service that you will surely notice while we're out sailing. Our highly experienced captain wears the boat like a glove and the crew work together like a well oiled machine as they raise the sails, keep your glasses full and pass around snacks as you sail to the best snorkeling spot based on the conditions that day, or as you sail in to the sunset. No two excursions are alike. Why? This is a sailboat, so we go with the wind, and I assure you the captain WILL raise the sails! There are beautiful private beaches and all kinds of snorkel spots in every direction, no matter which way the wind blows. The wind does not blow the same direction every day, so why motor to the same spot day after day? Too many gorgeous options, so hoist the sails! Let's glide across the Pacific in style! The crew of Sea Bird Sailing Excursions snaps photos throughout your tours and upload them to Picasa albums where you can download all your photos...COMPLIMENTARY, and in original size, as a gift to you!Contact Sea Bird Sailing Excursions DIRECTLY through email or phone and mention this site to receive a 10% discount off the total rate of your excursion. Our rates are already lower than the competition and this is how you can save even more. We look forward to taking you on a trip that you and your family will remember forever!

“The perfect ending to a great vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Truth is, I find sailing a bit dull. So when my wife suggested we go on a sail/snorkel excursion for half of our last full day, I was not thrilled... but went along to be a good sport. WOW, I am glad I picked this (rare) moment to be cooperative. :-) Sea Bird is, by far, the nicest sail boat I have been on. But what really makes this excursion is the warmth and hospitality of the crew. They are great with the basics of instruction and then, in between their "chores" of running this 45' boat through the ocean, they make sure your drink glass is never empty and you're having a good time. The snorkeling does not quite compare to Hawaii or Cayman Islands, but is it still quite good and worth doing. And finally, DO NOT miss out on swinging in the hammocks at the stern.

“"Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"???”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

If you want a delightful experience sailing with a charming and attentive crew, then Sea bird is a must on your agenda when visiting Playas del Coco. Since the middle of January, I've sailed with them four times. It's my very favorite thing to bring visitors from home to. Every trip has been delightful with incredible scenery and much in the way of pampering. Heather always does her best to accommodate everyone. Sebastian, the charming rogue of a captain, is happy to pose for pictures and has become quite fond of my hat. His son, Hector, along with the other crew members: Juan Carlos, Diego or Ronald, are eager to please and quite helpful. I've done both the snorkeling trip and the sunset cruise and look forward to doing both again.

This was a trip of a lifetime ... Capt. Sebastian and his crew of the Sea Bird are tops, friendly and looking after your every need. Heather was most gracious with a smile on her face and stories from her lips. Well worth the money......and would love to do it again..and I WILL.

“Sunset Cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Last minute the hubby and I decided to meet up with another friend and her son and go on a sunset cruise. So happy we choose Sea Bird again as we'd sailed with the crew a couple of years ago. The Captain Sebastian was the picture of what you think a sea captain or even a pirate to look like! What a wonderful, lively but capable personality. Heather and crew were fun, up beat and made us feel welcome, safe and pampered. We sailed all around the many beautiful beaches, saw Monkey Head rock; Four Seasons Hotel and houses on the cliffs; dolphins and a mystery item! We watched from a far distance a strange looking something or other come closer and closer. We all were wondering what it might be. Some speculated a body, others sea trash but lo and behold it was...a bean bag chair! It was such a hoot to see the crew scramble around to pick up this strange looking thing and pluck it from the sea. I'm sure it will make a great addition to the wonderful hammocks at the back of the boat! Sunset brought forth it's own natural beauty. Snacks, dancing, drinking and just general all around fun was had by all! Yes, we'll be back to Costa Rica but we'll also be back to sail again on the high seas with the crew of the Sea Bird! Pura Vida!

“Breathtaking sights!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Our sail on the sea-bird was amazing. Capt. and crew were very friendly, and accomodating. Nice cold drinks, and great snacks on board. Money and time..... very well spent. Would reccommend to all my friends. Looking forward to doing it again, someday soon.
