“casa caletas, wonderful surroundings.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

We are just completing our second night here and enjoyed the surroundings immensely. My wife and I spent the day driving around the dirt roads, talking to locals and observing agricultural operations. Walked on a deserted beach. Very romantic. The staff is outstanding. Be warned if you come here, the accommodations are not the Ritz Carlton. More like an older motel six but adequate. We had to be moved because our shower drain was plugged. I still enjoyed my visit very much.

I read another review here that was perplexing. A couple bought a place near here and talked in their review about the new owners donating to save the turtles (think early extortion attempt). I'd rather see the owners invest back in the hotel, their business, rather then donate to one guests pet project. Let him donate. Hate people who feel free to spend others money. Question whether he works in that field.

With my note on accommodations, I'd still go back, but I can stay in a Ritz Caelton or camp on the beach. My favorite area of Costa Rica, little evidence of westerners. Don't expect night life. Expect lots of quiet and nature.

My husband and I took a motorcycle trip and ended up at this lovely boutique hotel. Everything was so tastefully done! The location and its is amazing. We saw nesting pelicans, howler monkeys, parakeets, and Frigate birds, all form the delicious warmth of the pool!
I really appreciate it when things are simple yet elegant: the closets, the art, the mirrors in the room, the beds, the curtains...quite well done!
I like it that it is small.

We arrived at this hotel intending to only stay one night and immediately fell in love with it, extending our stay another night. The view was fantastic, our room was fantastic, and the staff was amazing. We felt so welcomed by the staff. The food there was delicious as well. You can't go wrong with this hotel, it has the best view in town and the prices are affordable. After leaving to our next hotel we had wished we just stayed at Casa Caletas a couple more days. You have everything you need there, a beautiful beach, kayaking, horseback riding, surf lessons, etc. We did a horseback riding tour with a local and greatly enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

This place was incredible. The views, the landscapes, the pool, the food, the service all top notch!!! Great couples getaway. It is a bit isolated so you need to have your transportation set up, but totally worth it!!!

We dropped into this hotel for lunch and stayed for 6 nights! We initially said we would stay 2 nights and then loved it so much, we ended up staying for another 4. The view over the estuary and ocean are spectacular, with superb sunsets. The staff (particularly Alberto and Alonso) were brilliant. The hotel only has a few rooms but seems to rarely be full. It is very comfortable with a lovely warm infinity pool. Coyote beach is a short drive away and has miles of deserted sand. We also had a great kayaking trip up the river looking at birds and the occasional croc. Erick the Turtle man was a mine of information on flora and fauna during the kayak trip.

Room Tip: Room 5 opens onto pool and has views down the estuary

We had four wonderful nights and five days at this special place. Our room had a jacuzzi on the pouch which was wonderful. At night we gaze out to the ocean, with the river flowing next to the hotel and the clear stars above, it was bliss.

The rooms are large and nicely finished with a nautical theme. The staff is accommodating.

The views are fantastic!

If you want a place away from it all, this is it. Very remote. Beach is great for swimming along with the mouth of the river.

If you want quiet, remote and relaxing, who could ask for more.

We where in Casa Caletas in 2011 and we had the most awesome time there!
Fiorella is a girl who was working there and she really made us feel at home and she is the most adorable person! The room where we staid had a very nice view over the river and the ocean. It was very clean and beautifull decorated. The breakfast was great and full of nutricion so we could surf all day long.....:-))
We will defintely be back someday soon!
