After reading a number of the postings on this site, I was slightly skeptical of this FS property despite our multiple successes at other Four Seasons. That skepticism proved largley unfounded and I have to say the FS Costa Rica is a wonderful resort with tremendous facilits and a very distinctive feel.
Rooms - We had a deluxe king with a bay view, and while nothing amazing, it was in keeping with Four Seaons quality standards. We were on second floor and thus had a decent view of the water; however, I'm not sure if that was entirely due to the lack of foilage due to the dry season. I imagine our view would have been fairly obstructed if there was foilage. We particularly enjoyed our screened porch which was very spacious and comfortable.
Food and Beverage - I read a number of reviews that were quite negative/nuetral on the food, and as a real foodie, I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Luckily, this was not the case. While we did not go to the Italian restaraunt (why bother?), we were consistently impressed with the food in both Papagayos and the club house steak site. If you stick with the regional dishes and ingredients, you will in no way be disappointed. Some of our fish dishes were, in fact, spectacular. I will concur with many of the reviews that mentioned the high prices - even for a FS property, the costs were a bit steep.
Spa/facilties - The spa is tremendous and deserving of all its good press. The outdoor pool situation is certainly adequate, though as a young couple, we were at times overwhelmed by the kiddie factor in the pools. This is certainly a kid friendly resort, to be sure. Perhaps too much so....?
Service - Absolutley world class. The service was definitely as good or better than any top hotel (FS or otherwise) that we have been to in the world.
All in all, this property is wonderful, particularly as it is so close to Atlanta. We left at 10am and we were poolside by 3:30pm in paradise - not bad at all.
