“Wonderful Raft Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012 via mobile

Our party of 11 enjoyed a great day. Roberto picked us up in a clean van at our hotel. He is very professional and safety conscious. Ivan was our guide. This outfit is very careful to review safety procedures. The guide was professional and also pointed out many natural river features. Highly recommended!!!

“Excellent outfit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

We went white-water rafting with Tico and found them to be extremely organised and professional. There was no faffing around, everything ran smoothly.

The river wasn't particularly high due to lack of rain so the rapids weren't too extreme but still great fun.

The lunch provided is amazing!

If you take you're bags with you, the driver will look after them in the van while you raft, and then they can drop you off in the next town to get your bus direct to San Jose or wherever you're going next rather than having to go back to Turrialba and getting the bus back saving you a few hours travel time.

“Perfect for beginners!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

I went to Turrialba with the name of a tour company I should look up, but they were closed by the time I arrived. Back at my hostel, the owner picked up the phone and called Tico's River Adventures. Am I ever glad she did!

Owner Roberto picked us up himself and drove us to our start point. I'd only been rafting once before, Class II rapids, over 20 years earlier, so I was a little nervous, but Roberto assured me that he'd done this for a long time, and if we just listened to his instructions, we'd all come out okay. We were given helmets and life vests, and then we got into the raft for some practice at the river's edge. Roberto was funny, telling us that he only rolled the raft as often as he rolled his car, "not too often."

We started with a couple of Class III rapids, then the Class IV rapids were conquered, and Roberto's yelling instructions was the only thing that kept us all in the raft. All along the way, Roberto pointed out all the flora and fauna he could find.

After a couple of hours of rafting, we stopped along the banks, and as we waited for Roberto to prepare lunch, we walked back up the river to a spot where we could jump in and float down. The fixings for some delicious burritos awaited us when we returned, and after we filled ourselves, the leftovers were given to a small indigenous boy to share with his family.

Back in the raft, we were swept along several more rapids, then we climbed out and up onto a high rock, from which we jumped back into the Pacuare. What an adrenaline rush!

I recommend rafting while you're in Turrialba, but more importantly, go with Roberto's company. Tico's River Adventures is awesome!

“White water rafting with the pros”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

in early April we booked a party of five with four of the five members being 60 years or older on a white water rafting trip with Roberto of Tico River Adventures. After they picked us up at our hotel and took us on the beautiful ride to the Pacure River, we embarked on one of the best guided trips we have ever done. Our guide Fabio was extremely knowledable about the river, and despite some of the liablities of having an aging crew, managed to make our trip more than outstanding.

He was a careful watcher and communicated instructions to us clearly and promply. we enjoyed a wonderful day because of the expertixe of this small comapny. I wouodl recommend them over the large commercial tours also on this river because we were able to customize our trip .

Thanks Fabio and Roberto - your new family Carol, Peter, Joyce, Fred and Marci

“What an experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012 via mobile

My friend & I booked this tour & loved every minute of it! We made all arrangements via email w/ Roberto & everything went very smoothly. We were staying @ a fabulous resort in the Turrialba area called Rancho Naturalista which is a 120 bird sanctuary w/ the most incredible staff, food & ambiance.
Fabio was our guide for the rafting excursion & he is very knowledgeable of the area & speaks excellent English. The lunch that was prepared for us was fabulous & Fabio even fed the indigenous people that were there. We gave a mother (w/ a baby in a papoose) a ride across the river as well. The scenery is breathtaking! The canyons, the birds, the waterfalls & hearing the howler monkeys in the distance were all memories we'll ever forget. Had a wonderful time!
