“WOW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

WOW, this is a great place to visit. You arrive with the car and you find nothing so special. You enter it and first of all they make you feel welcome from the bottom of their hart.
Few steps further you experience a fantastic view into the valley. Comfortable interiors and a very friendly service again. The coffee and sandwich served by the owner himself free of Charge.
In the evening the most romantic dinner on a terrace that beat just about everything. ( don’t go for the food ), it’s good but that is not what it is all about.
Privat Chapel, if I marry again it will be here ;-),
If God intense to reward me for something, he will send me to Hacienda Tayutic

“An adventurous place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

A great place to visit if you like all the adrenaline sports combined with quiet and relaxing stay during your free time in the hotel, they have the most exciting activities to do like white water rafting, canyoning or rappelling, ziplining, horseback riding, volcano hiking and so much more that you will want to stay quite more time than what you thought!!!..and then the hotel has just the most comfortable and quiet areas to rest after all those challenging activities that you enjoyed earlier in the day. The excellent staff brought us everything we needed and was always there for us!! The food in the hotel had amazing flavor and was really a costarrican typical style made by local women!! Thanks to all the wonderful people from Hacienda Tayutic for the great time we had in our stay there!!!

“Beautiful views in the clouds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This was a unique experience in a magnificent setting. Our room was off the main dining area and had a balcony over looking the valley, the same view as from the dining room. It was beautiful to wake up each morning and look out. This is a very tranquil place with no TVs. You can hear everything outside your room, and there are no blackout shades so expect to rise early, but it is a very relaxing environment. The staff is very nice and helpful with planning trips, etc. The food was excellent and we had all meals there. It was excellent Costa Rican fare. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed all the meals. It has a bed and breakfast feel as you eat with the other guests. Wine with dinner was price reasonably. The tour of the grounds was also excellent and the tour guide was very knowledgable as were the other workers. Overall, it was a great experience and a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: The rooms are all different. If you want a great view, choose a room in the main building. They ha...

“A must stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012 via mobile

We stayed for two nights in the side
house. The room was rather large with a very clean and generous bath room. As the rooms are not totally closed we were able to hear our neighbors in the morning or other people walking around the house.

We had all our meals within the hotel. They provided very tasty Costa Rican  local food. The only drawback is, that there is no menu to choose from and usually there is only one main dish for everybody. But the kitchen had no problems providing alternatives to us (Just ask).

We totally can recommend the tour through the hacienda where you'll learn how coffee, sugar-cane and macadamia are processed. You can taste everything and afterwards there's a lovely lunch.

On the last evening the owner of the hotel joined us at our dessert and told us his family story and the history of the hacienda.

As we had to leave early the owner himself took care that we got some coffee and a breakfast to go in the morning.

So, we can totally recommend this place. The only minor cons are the limited choice of dishes and the only spanish speaking waitresses.

“Wonderful. If you can stay here, do.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our 9-day vacation. I cannot think of a nicer place I have ever stayed, and highly recommend it to couples or families in search of a bit of peace and beauty. The grounds and the building are breathtaking. The design and attention to detail in everything -- from the decor to the gardens and landscapting -- are stunning. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff was warm and welcoming, and always ready to help make our stay better. Roy and Frederico were especially great. I didn't expect much from the tour, but ended up loving it. The Hacienda has been in the same family for more than 100 years, and only a boutique hotel for the last 4. The incredible design of the grounds are thanks to a matriarch from the 1940's -- very authentic. They grow macadamia nuts, coffee and sugar cane, and the tour demonstrates traditional methods for how these were produced, as well as other cool features/buildings on the grounds. The food was great too. I felt no need to leave the premises, although we did enjoy a walk down the lane about 1/2 mile one night to a nice local restaurant for dinner that was less expensive than Tayutic. Note that the walls are thin and it is not a place to be noisy in your room. That said, we found it perfect and enjoyed every moment.
