This is a quaint budget hotel high up on a hill near the Arenal Waterfall and Nature Conservancy. We took the Grayline Tourist bus from San Jose and our driver had a difficult time finding this hotel. The correct address that the manager of the hotel gave me is 300 mt norte, Poirqueo Cotartata, Rio Fortuna [--] or [--]. The hotel also goes by the name of Paradise Mountain Lodge and may be permanently changed to this. Supposedly there is a map off of the hotel website that gives specific driving directions.
Once we got to the hotel, the experience was good. Josue the manager was very helpful in helping us with tours and connecting us with airlines since my friend lost his luggage.
The rooms are clean and basic with hot water and air conditioning. There is a hottub outside for great views of the town below. Breakfast is included and you can also order lunch and dinner if desired. There is a stocked refrigerator for sodas, water and beer which they'll add to your hotel tab.
We didn't have a car so we had to call a cab to get down the hill to La Fortuna for evening activities. Josue would call for us and it took from 10 minutes to 1 hour. for the cab to arrive. But we were there during high holidays so understandable on the time it took. The ride to town cost $6 US. Tour groups didn't mind picking us up at the hotel during the day.
One bonus of the hotel is free admission for hiking to the waterfall which is a several mile walk.
Overall I would recommend if you don't mind being away from things.
