This resort was beyond my expectations!! Everything was well maintained and very clean. The staff was very nice, friendly and always at hand to get you whatever you needed. We stayed in a casita room which was very large with a balcony to sit outside. We ate at the Amor Loco restaurant which is in the adult villa section, the food was wonderful. The buffet breakfast had lots of selection and very good. I would not hesistate to stay there again.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, serene vacation in Costa Rica and Nayara was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful, the grounds were beautiful and the rooms had every luxury that we could imagine. Furthermore, as a vegetarian, it is often difficult for me to travel and find options beyond simple salads but Nayara had a wonderful selection of vegetarian options and a staff who was more than willing to help me find great dishes. We can't wait to come back to Nayara in the future!

Nayara is a good hotel if you are the type of people that wants to go to a place and know the touristic side and not the locals and their life.
It's far from the town center and the only way, that the hotels provides, to get there is on the employees bus (no kidding) or if you pay an overpriced taxi service.
Once you get to the hotel everything is fairytale and you can pay for tours and attractions that picks you on the hotel takes you where you want to go and back.
It's not bad but it is not our way of traveling.
Also the food was not amazing and out bathtub was at plain sight to a bridge and we had cero privacy.

Room Tip: Choose a room that is far from the bridge if you want privacy.

Jairo Q, Manager at Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens, responded to this review, yesterday
Dear valued guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Nayara.
On behalf of the entire Nayara family, we are so sorry that we were not able to perfect your entire experience as we strive to offer an ideal vacation for our guests.
Please accept my sincere apology for your concerns about the lack of privacy in your room. I wish it was brought to my attention when you were here so I could have addressed it on the spot. I will also flag the issue of privacy in these units with the gardening team so we can avoid situations like this in the future.
Regarding the taxi cost, I want to be sure to share that we have the lowest taxi rates in the area that have English speaking drivers and the best SUV’s with A/C. Speaking to your experience with our food, following your visit in August last year, we have made lots of improvements in our menus of our onsite restaurants.
I hope this did not mar your entire experience at Nayara and hopefully we can host you again very soon!
Sincerely,
Jairo Quesada
Resident Manager, Nayara Hotels.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights in the Nayara casita and we loved it. The service was very friendly and professional. Our small villa was beautiful and clean with our balcony facing the volcano. We also had an exterior jacuzzi which we enjoyed using everyday as well as 2 chaises longues and a hammac. The room has a huge comfy bed, a huge bathroom and 2 showers: 1 internal and 1 external.
Rooms are cleaned twice a day and in the evening round they prepare your bed for sleep, close all curtains and leave you some biscuits and water for the night. Very thoughtful.
The hotel has 3 restaurants with good quality food and staff. They also offer a whole list of tours at same price as if you booked directly with the tour company so use them. We had a problem with one of our tours and even though it was not their fault, they refunded the full cost to us. Very professional! We did the chocolate tours, very interesting and good to do on a rainy day. The Sky adventure tram + trek (zip line) + walk is amazing. Make sure you get a guide for the 3 hour trek. Finally the Ecothermales hot springs are again good and small enough to feel personal for a rainy day visit. I also went riding but used Alberto's horses and not the one recommended by the hotel. I really enjoyed it.
Now the weather was not the best, as we had 2 days of sunshine in 6 days. Apparently this is not unusual so if you are after sunshine, maybe not the best place but amazing tours and things to see.
Do not start me on the spa: it is amazing. We were lucky they had 20% off all week as it is a bit pricey but the surroundings, free drinks and strawberry with chocolate made it all worth it. Treatments were very good.

Room Tip: Get a volcano facing room. Avoid rooms close to the car park.

When I first came to the hotel and was greeted very friendly by the hotel management, I knew immediately this hotel is something special. And it is. The location just in front of the volcano El Arenal (unfortunately the volcano was covered by clouds all the time we were there), the beautifully and veryvwell kept garden, spacious rooms with the outside jakuzzi where you can sit and watch the surrounding nature - it all makes this place unforgettable....There is a bar located on the upper flool where you can do the wine tasting and pour the wine yourself from a specially designed refrigerator! I have never seen something like that before anywhere in the world. Very dangerous. And almost impossible to stay sober....

Fell in love with the place from the moment we arrived. They had a beautiful rose petal display on the bed and champagne on ice, chocolate, grapes, and cookies. The room is spectacular. The outdoor shower and Jacuzzi were great with hot water and cool air. The grounds of the hotel are visually gorgeous and immaculate. Room service arrived quick and hot. The service in the main restaurant is very good, and so was the food. We didn't get to see the volcano due to the weather but we still enjoyed the hike at the base. The weather also prevented us from taking full advantage of everything offered, but we didn't come to the rainforest for beach weather so it was fine. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would love to go back.

Room Tip: We had 33 and it was private and was close enough to the front of the hotel lobby and the amenities...

This hotel is 5 star all the way! The website lists the stellar services offered.....not limited to outside showers, hot tubs on the massive decks, use of both properties, multiple restaurants with amazing and delicious food, extensive breakfast buffet, twice daily maid service.....but it is the little extras that give Nayara the + to the 5 stars!!

The staff have thought of all the little extras that include:

Cold towel and a cold beer or wine, complementary on arrival
Pre prepared sandwiches and lunch bags at breakfast so you can take a snack to go. Don't miss the home made granola bars (delish)
Umbrellas placed throughout property (it is the rain forest)
Bananas and coffee in the lobby
Home made cookies and chocolate at turndown in the evening
Flowers in room
Laptops in lobby
Spotless rooms and communal areas
Free yoga sessions
Resident Macaw parrot
Beautiful gardens with fish ponds
Goodies bags of water when you leave

And of COURSE, friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff.

Thanks for an unforgettable stay. We highly recommend this hotel!
