“Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The hotel is not very close to all the main excursions so it costs to drive to the location you need to go for most of the activities, but let me just express how immensely relaxing the grounds are. Green everywhere with the birds singing, it's great if you like birds. The room itself was average. The bedding was worn out, in fact mine had a tear. The room smelled damp but otherwise was clean. The staff is extremely nice. I guess the only thing to note about it is the fact that it's not in the heart of where most attractions are so if you don't mind to spend $$ to get to the activities then you'll be fine. If you're driving, then you're totally fine.

“Great location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This was a great hotel for exploring the Arenal/La Fortuna area. The grounds and pool are beautiful and the restaurant was excellent. The staff made us feel very comfortable and were helpful in making reservations for other activities. Definitely recommended.

“Quaint and nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We bought a Living Social voucher for a package deal trip here and had a spectacular time. The location was very close to downtown, but tucked away and felt safe and secure the whole time. The rooms were small and a little old, but very quaint and nice. We even used the spa which was very cool, got massages in open rooms backing to the trees and bushes, which felt like we were part of nature. The travel agency (Ecoterra) that is affiliated with Casa Luna is also very professional and has a lot of great trips, but be aware that the "hot springs" they send you too are nothing more than warm pools - if you want real hot springs then you'll have to go somewhere else. The sheets had some small holes in them and were worn, but clean. We did have a little trouble getting the cleaning folks to clean our room (we put the service requested tag out all day long twice and no one came), but the front desk sent someone in with some new towels when we realized it after getting back late that night. The food at the restaurant was fine but left something to be desired... but who goes to Costa Rica to sit around and eat at the hotel :)

“Loved this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

It is a quick 5 min taxi ride if anything to the town of Fortuna. friendly staff that was able to hold our luggage since we were unable to check in. Downside, our luggage was held behind the desk. The staff had great suggestions and even helped us book a day trip to the hot springs. great quiet view of the volcano. Swimming pool was clean and super refreshing! No umbrellas to really shield you from the blazing hot sun. breakfast was good! Be aware there is a flat rate to town from the taxi. We (3 women) were unaware of this so we were overpaying for a day :(

“Friendly staff; great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Spent four nights in December 2012. Comfortable room with balcony overlooking the beautiful flowering plants surrounding the pool area with a view of the volcano in the distance. Great location for enjoyable day trips to the rainforest and volcano for hiking and ziplining and to the river for whitewater rafting. These day trips were all organized and well-run by Ecoterra Tours which conveniently has an office at Casa Luna. The staff at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the different tour offerings--how far away, how physically demanding, etc--the restaurants in La Fortuna, and the Casa Luna spa offerings and helped us decide where we'd like to go and what we'd like to do. Enjoyed the mud massage at Casa Luna Spa; the open air treatment room was incredibly relaxing. The included breakfast was a great deal with delicious fresh fruit. Would happily return to Casa Luna.
