“Nice place to stay, nice service, great rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We've stayed in this hotel for three nights in a Junior room with our 4 years old daugther. The bungalows are awesome, (specialy the bathroom that is impresive with a cascade shower) and the views of the Arenal are great. The only thing that does not do justice to this place is the breakfast bufet, that is not as we spected for a hotel like this, we find it to be too much poor with no variety at all. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was GREAT.
The rooms are very clean, and the gardens are very well taken care after, have seen there iguana, frogs (at night) and humming birds plus lots of other colorful birds.
The swimming pool is not very big but has a nice dessign and the water is a little bit hot what does it perfect at night. Have a nice pool-side bar too.

Room Tip: A Junior suite is a must

We thought this hotel was beautiful! The setting is gorgeous. We were coming from the RIU Palace so we were a little spoiled, and we did have to adjust to the low key atmosphere. It was very quiet & that took some getting used to. The staff was great, a little hard to understand. The breakfast was awesome, they would make anything you wanted, I wish I could remember out waiter he was awesome & very informative. There wasn't a lot of guidance when it came to the tours, etc. After mentioning that to our waiter he brought Nester the travel manager for the hotel to our table. He sat with us & we talked about what we wanted to do. He was AWESOME! If you go there please ask for him he is an excellent tour guide. We went on the hanging bridges tour, volcano hike, & La Fortuna waterfall hike, all with just Nester & my boyfriend. He would stop the van if he seen wildlife & he showed us everything he could in the rainforest. My favorite was the Volcano hike it was beautiful. The flowers are amazing! We did see wild turkeys, monkeys, poisonous snakes, frogs, lizards on the hanging bridges hike. Lunch was included & it was huge & delicious. I thought all the food we had at mountain paradise was great. We also walked down to the other hotel right past guard shack on left, starts with a N, and had lunch, it was great. Prices were good & you got big portions. One night we ate at the arenal koita & it was the best meal we had. I had sea bass and it was amazing. We were very sceptical, because the place looked desserted but I'm so glad we stayed the best food & service! We also zip lined with sky trek, they were very professional & made us feel very safe! We were both scared of heights! & we did 8 lines, 700ft, some lines 1/2 mile long with 80mph speed, it was awesome!!! We went to Bali hot springs one night for dinner & the dinner was ok, I thought it would be better, buffet, but the springs were the bomb. Beautiful settings! Fun water slides, & the sauna & waterfalls were my favorite! We will definitely come back again, we like more nightlife, so I don't think we will stay at mountain paradise again, but it's great if your just wanting a quiet place to relax, the scenery is awesome & the bugs were not bad. I read tons of reviews before we came & I was worried, if they would use more Chauk on the patio doors it would be better! Remember ask for Nester, he will make your trip so worth the money :-)

Loved staying here. This was our first stop through our personal tour through costa rica. Loved the location and the view from the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and the hot tub on the patio was a nice touch especially after hiking. We wished we could have stayed longer!!!

Compliant is about the food at the restaurants on the hotel property. They both have extreme potential but, just are to expensive for the quality and the amount of food that you get. It was great though to just go outside your room to get food especially after a long day of traveling to the excursions. I would say if you can eat elsewhere.

I had read some negative reviews on Tripadvisor and was a little worried we would be disappointed with our stay. We loved almost everything about the hotel. Our room was spotless, I had read about people complaining about bugs, but we did not have that problem. Our bathroom had a very tiny Gecko, but he was too cute to be afraid of. Drinks at the hotel were expensive, but we solved that problem by riding into town and going to the grocery store and picking up what we needed to make drinks. Breakfast at the hotel was wonderful, they had a great buffet of fresh fruit. You have the choice of an American breakfast or Tico breakfast. We went with the Tico breakfast and it was great. Rice and beans, homemade cheese, fried plantains, and eggs.

Our only complaint was the dinners were expensive and not very good, steak was full of fat and gristle. After the first day, we went into La Fortuna and had dinner there. Dinner at the hotel was around $22/person and in town was about $7/person and a lot more tasty! Taxi ride into town was $10.

The grounds around the property are beautifully maintained. The office staff was very helpful and attentive. When we got there there was a mix-up with our room, but the Operations Manager, Luis, saw us waiting and came over and personally escorted us to our room.

We enjoyed our short stay the Mountain Paradise hotel while on a tour of Costa Rica. The room was large with a nice patio facing the Arenal Volcano. Breakfast at the open air restaurant also had a fantastic view, and hummingbirds were flying about dining on the topical flowers while we ate. I wish we could have stayed there longer.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk too far, ask for a room close to the lobby and restaurant.

Staff was very friendly. Loved this place when we first walked in because of how cool it looks with the rustic look and the waterfall shower. BUT we soon found out that alot of things were broken and dirty. FIRST, we didn't get a room key because 'security' was working on it(ummm...), when we finally did get it later that evening, it didn't work for the back door leading to the outside jacuzzi. So unless we kept the back door propped open for the mosquitoes to get in, we had to go around the front of the hotel room which isn't exactly what you want to do when it is dark. They did nothing to fix this the three nights we were there.
SECOND, the jacuzzi wasn't even hot water. lukewarm at best, that defeat the purpose.
THIRD, there were mysterious 'splatters' on the bathroom walls which were really gross.
Lastly, our curtains were falling off of the hooks.
Breakfast was your typical American or Costa Rican breakfast...just your standard food, nothing special.

so we have cool pictures, but everything else sucked.

Room Tip: room with the view of the volcano was cool, but considering you can see the volcano from town, not v...

Loved the wild but maintained look. Our room had a great falls like shower and a little porch to stay in touch and watch some birds. The staff was very helpful with organizing excursions.
It would have been nice if the coffee maker in the room made more then one mug. The wifi was only good in the lobby area which could get crowded.
If I returned to this area I would go back here.

Room Tip: Rooms witch few of volcano
