We stayed at this hotel for three night and it was breathtaking. One of the most beautiful destination we have encountered. The surroundings were amazing and very secluded. The staff there was super friendly and very accommodating. The concierge were nice were not as friendly, but still, they were nice nonetheless.

Our room was beautiful, and they really captured the outdoors theme in it. Loved the waterfall shower in the bathroom.

I would definitely recommend this place for anyone on their future visits.

This property hosted our first three days in Costa Rica and we loved every minute of it! It sits at the base of Arenal volcano and offers a beautiful, peaceful setting in a tropical paradise. The property has hundreds of hummingbirds & flowers & the grounds are well kept. You have to keep in mind that you are NOT in Las Vegas---you're in Costa Rica---so if you're looking for that big hotel feeling with institutional-like cleanliness, you won't find it here. It's an amazing property with exceptional views and while the food is good, it's not exceptional. It's clean but you are at ground level so expect to see a few little bugs. We highly recommend this property, it was a unique experience.

Beautiful views of the volcano from the swim up bar (we got lucky with the weather), where the bartenders are quite friendly and willing to chat about the area. We had a car, and this location was ideal in that trips to hot springs, the lake, hanging bridges, and a nature walk near La Fortuna town were all very short jaunts.
Some of the complaints in other reviews didn't seem all that problematic to us. The service was excellent, we had no problem operating the showers (user error?), and the breakfast was good.

We stayed at the Mountain Paradise for 3 nights at the end of December. The room was very large with a comfortable bed. We loved the waterfall shower but had a hard time regulating the water pressure and temperature. We ran out of hot water with each shower. The back patio had a jacuzzi tub which we were not able to use because if lack of hot water. The room was made up beautifully but not done at convenient times. The staff (housekeeping as well as front desk) did not speak English as well as we expected at a hotel of this caliber. Restaurant buffet breakfast was great. Other meals were not great and overpriced. Restaurant service was spotty. Shuttle service to town was very limited, forcing us to pay for a taxi back if we wanted to have dinner in the town. Grounds are lovely, with many hummingbirds and other types. We were excited to see a macaw one afternoon. Nice pool with swim up bar. With a few improvements I would highly recommend this hotel.
