“Wow!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Me and my husband spent 1 night during our honeymoon in april 2014.Arriving in early evening, after driving through the amazing views of arenal surrounding, receptionist was extra welcoming and helpful and showed us to our bungalow.
To our surprise We got the large family bungalow (although we were only a couple) since no other bunglow was avaliable at time of reservation (no extra charge).
No special gesture for the honeymoon was noticed.

Staying in the bungalow was an adventure! amazing experience, located in the local forest , surrounded by all the wildlife noises !

Breakfast was ok - intercontinental standard. breakfast ladies made sure to put fruits in the surrounding area of breakfast so birds will arrive ! :)

Do make sure to have a walk (it's free and fun !) in the private trails on the premises - these are asbsolutely terrific , including a great butterfly house !

Room Tip: all bungalows are the same and have spacious parking spot

bungalows right in the forest, enjoy the natural sounds around you, lots of birds. night walk recommended, guides very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife. bungalows basic but great and bed large and comfortable. large areas to park your car beside bungalow. good design in that there is a second outside light on the side of the bungalow which attracts all the bugs so you can sit out the front on your bench without being attacked! some nice restaurants within walking distance, near to town. staff very friendly and speak good english.

Room Tip: all rooms seem good, we had bungalow 6 at the end of the lane with plenty of parking space and priv...

Stayed at this hotel for two nights and have no negative things to say about this place. It is run by a family and that gives it a little air of homeliness which is always good. The receptionist (assuming she was the or one of the owners) was amazing, her English is excellent and she is very friendly and always willing to help. Ah, but one thing I noticed all the time... she was smiling!!! a big white and bright genuine smile, actually, to be honest, everyone that work there are super nice and happy people.

When we arrived we had dinner since it was a bit late and we were getting kind of peckish and didn't want to go far. So we went to the restaurant... we were served by Chino (very talkative young man, bit bright smile and excellent English) the service was amazing and the food... to die for! I had a casado (lots of different things in one dish) it was amazing. Too bad I can't remember the name of the lady that cooked it, I am sure chino knows... she was super nice and obviously a great cook! my husband is a vegetarian and he was well feed in there, lovely pasta with a freshly made sauce, huge portions too :)

This is what are dinner was and the cost.

Casado $10 (steak, rice, beans, fried banana (really yummy), salad and egg)
Pasta $7
Frescos $4 (natural freshly made pineapple/banana juice and mine was watermelon juice)
Papas $5 (chips - French fries)
Cafe $2 (two)
Dinner Total: $28

The grounds are vast and all the gardens are impeccably manicured, lots of green, reds, yellows... ah... beautiful! the cabins are simple stunning, we thought they were pre-built log cabins but apparently, every single cabin and edifice in the complex is custom-made and built on site... fabulous!

The trail is awesome, lots of things to see and it's very safe. beautiful ponds and frogs and other animals

our cabin was number 2 and it was a delight, two lovely beds, huge bath/shower room. The water pressure is so high that it even massages your back after a long long day out.

Three things that I would like to mention about this hotel are:
1. there is no TV in the room so don't go there if you are a TV junkie (not a problem for us though)
2. the internet is only available down on reception so don't expect to be able to Facebook from bed
3. there is no A/C in the rooms, just a big ceiling fan so plan to bring very comfy pyjamas

Now the juicy part:

Location: very good location, walking distance to a little town which has a decent supermarket, a bit far away from the La Fortuna Downtown but the hotel is always helpful to call a taxi for you. it's 15 min drive (taxi in our case) from Tabacon Resort and Spa hot springs (well recommended) and it only cost us $18 each way (we gave him $20) he taxi driver even asked if we wanted to be picked up in the evening to take us back to the hotel and he was there, on tico time (5 min late) but did not let us down.

Sleep quality: we slept well, the beds are very comfy and if it wasn't for the heat, we'd probably fallen asleep sooner than we did. Overall, it was excellent quality. new bedding every day and it's ALL WHITE, which is quite surprising. At night, all you can hear is... nothing! well the birds, and the monkeys and the frogs and the crickets, etc etc etc

Cleanliness: no faults here. bathroom was spotless clean, beds were fabulously done (even had animal figures made with our towels every day) clean floors and toiletries every day (quite basic but nice to have)

Food: Excellent!

We really enjoyed our time here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I loved that there are only a handful of cabinas spread throughout the property. My kids loved exploring the trails and area around the cabin. Nice, quiet and peaceful. We had the two room villa which was more than enough for our family of four. We would stay here again if in the Arenal area.

At breakfast (that is very good) you are treated to birds coming in for fresh fruit, you have a front row seat to watch as you enjoy your food. Kind servers, and they watch the fruit, when it's near gone they set out more so all that come for breakfast can enjoy the birds there. The rooms were nice, but "basic" which means no AC, fan only, but we used the fan all night and it went well enough. Good hot water for showers, nice clean rooms in the jungle type atmosphere, reception did much to assist us with problems, as the other half of our group had to stay else where as they were full at the Oasis. I didn't like the bed - but seeing the birds each morning made up for that - we stayed there 3 nights

Room Tip: go early to breakfast to watch the birds

We stayed in a bungalow and a villa (3 couples) and it was so great. It really feels like you are staying in the jungle, there are beautiful plants all around and you can't see the other villas because they are all tucked away in the wilderness. Pablo and his family are all very nice! There's a free drying service and the breakfast is good. I would definitely stay here again.
We also did the frog tour, which was very cool! We got to see all kinds of animals - spiders, lizards, snakes, ants, frogs, and toads.

Great place to stay! We did the bird and night tours...excellent! Counted over 50 bird species in a 4 hour tour. The night tour was full of frogs, ants, nesting hummingbirds and a lot more. Good breakfast that was part of the deal.

Room Tip: Small place so not many cabinas. All looked in good condition. Lighting was not great...
