I did not have a reservation for this hotel. I arrived on January 25, 2013. The hotel my friends were staying in was full so they called Kokoro. I was driven to the hotel and I met Fernando the night manager. He got me into a nice room inside a 4 bedroom cabin/house. The gardens and whirlpools are beautiful. The best part is when you get up if it is not to cloudy you can see Arenal Mountain I will post a photo. Had a great time the staff is wonderful. Free wifi, internet, and majic jack to call back to the US free. Everyone there is helpful and make you feel at home. I will stay there again. If you need a beautiful spot while in the Arenal/LaFortuna area this is it. Affordable and clean and the most accommodating people on my 10 day trip. They also booked trips for me from the hotel that were great and affordable. Make sure you do not miss the 7 zip lines tour with the ski lift near Arenal Volcano. It was a great time. Weather was 70-85F everyday with a sprinkle now and then but it would dry right off. Next visit I will have to spend more time exploring the area, missed the hot springs and waterfalls. The breakfast that was included was awesome and they went out of their way to make sure I ate before I left on my day trip to Cano Negro at 6:00 AM. Great time will go back.

If you think about going to Arenal, you have to stay at Kokoro!

The rooms are huge! You can have a party there ;-)
The resort is very quite, even if it is fully booked. There is a nice garden, hot springs, swimming pool, relaxing area with hammock and nice breakfast & dinner area.

You can have dinner there and we did. Just ask the menu one hour before you would like to eat and give your preferences. The food is very good (I liked the fish with rice and beans), the red wine is good as well. The white wine isn't. :-)

For breakfast: depending on how many guests are staying there, you will have a buffet or not.
Choice between pancakes, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, rice & beans, ... Good to start the day with!

There are some board games and a computer with Internet at the reception area. You can order different beverages (not very cheap, but OK). We liked the beers (especially Imperial).

The best of the hotel? The staff! So friendly! They gave us tips about the neighbourhood, about the best route to the next place, about the beer,... They really took the time to talk with you and it didn't feel fake. It looks like they are multidisciplinary: they cook, they work at the reception desk,...

Location: you have to take a car to get to the centre of La Fortuna, so that might be a minus, if you planned to go to the centre in the evening.

We really enjoyed our stay there. It was the most expensive one, but it was worth the money!

I wouldn't recommend the "Casona". Ask for the bungalows instead and you won't regret the extra money you pay. People are very kind and helpful and... great food! I loved having breakfast with hummingbirds flying around us.

We had a very enjoyable stay here for 5 nights...we stayed in two cabanas and both were very clean and comfortable. The furniture is sparse ( a nighstand, small refrigerator, chair and armoire) but the beds are comfortable. There is a beautiful view of the volcano and the grounds are pretty. Breakfast is good and the staff was very accomodating in making us dinner our first night here. You will most likely go outside the hotel for dining options as we didn't get the sense that they were set up as a typical restaurant. The location is great, close enough to La Fortuna but still feel like you are in the rain forest. The TV gets one or two american channels so be prepared for that. However, there is a lot to do in this area so you're really not in your room much. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a very relaxing setting.
