This place is perfect for most travelers. We arrived late night after
driving 3 hours from Liberia. The check in was quick, the front desk attendant showed us to our room within minutes. The rooms are rustic cabins with the basic amenities (tv stall shower etc.) and an outside sitting area.

The next day, we woke up to the most beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano from our cabinas! Breakfast was included. . .fresh juices, typical Costa Rican food, as well as pancakes!!!

All of the staff makes you feel at home, and will help you with all of your excursions. Best kept secret in Arenal. I will definitely go back!!!

This hotel was the best example of real Tico hospitality we experienced during our week stay in Costa Rica. The casitas, restaurant, and most of all the gardens were beautiful. However, what really set this hotel apart was the amazing hospitality of the owners. The owner personally brought us an extra matress since the hotel did not have a roll away bed. He later drove us personally to a nearby hot springs and his wife picked us up when we had finished. The manager of the restaurant even greeted us with complimentary smoothies on our arrival. Interestingly this was the only one of the hotels during our trip that was frequented by many Costa Ricans, not just foreign tourists. We stayed on Saturday and Sunday nights and there was no construction going on at all during our stay. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here longer.

I've been meaning to write a review for some time following our stay at the Hotel Silencio del Campo but have not had the time. We stayed at this hotel for a few days in mid-February of 2007 and had a wonderful time all things considering. The rooms were very clean and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. There was construction at a neighboring property during our stay but the noise was not audible in our room. The view of the volcano from our room was absolutely spectacular.

Unfortunately my girlfriend contracted a gastrointestinal illness during our visit to CR and the condition worsened during our stay at the Hotel Silencio del Campo. The hotel staff arranged for a doctor to come to the hotel in order to make sure that my girlfriend's illness was not serious. Not only was the hotel nice enough to get us a doctor on a Friday night when the town of La Fortuna is essentially closed down for the night, but they then arranged to have a taxi pick up a prescription from the pharmacy in town and bring this prescription to our room. All of this service for the cost comparable to run of the mill motel in San Diego. My girlfriend started doing better immediately which salvaged the trip home for my girlfriend.

The food at the hotel is very reasonably priced and very tasty. As with most Costa Rican food, the menu was simple but very delicious. I have stayed at a few 5-star hotels in different parts of the world and this place, although simple, is every bit as accomodating and helpful as a world class hotel. I will definitely revisit the hotel during future visits to CR. The staff will also generously arrange any day trips or transportation accomodations that you would ever need during your stay. I also never felt like i was being taken advantage of during our entire stay. The people of Costa Rica are absolutely wonderful and "pura vida" is in fact a reality there.

We began our 12 day trip at Silencio and it was the best! We spent 3 nights and by the time we left, we felt like family! The view of Arenal is spectacular and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are cozy and very comfortable.
The best part about our stay was the owners and how they went above and beyond. My fiancee proposed to me one night while we were out to dinner in Arenal and Luis and his wife set our casita up with candles and wine with heart decorations!! It was amazing!! They made our stay so wonderful and very memorable.
The restaurant is very good. We ate most of our meals there. The included breakfast is delicious. The staff booked our tours and took great care of everything we needed. We'll definitley be back!

I just got back from Costa Rica with my husband, our friends and their kids and spent two nights at El Silencio del Campo. Everyone enjoyed the hospitality of Diego, Jose and Alex. The cabins were spacious, clean and modern. Our friends traveling with their kids found it nice to hang out in the patio and have drinks and talk with us while their little ones napped. All the staff treated us very well. We felt at home and thought of them as family by the time we left. After mentioning to Diego that we were going to Baldi Hot Springs, he recommended we go to Eco Thermales instead for a better experience. Boy were we glad we took his advice! Plus, when we got there, Diego and his wife were there as well! It was the most beautiful and relaxed hot springs around. Very private and the grounds were incredible. Diego took great care of us, Alex booked our excursions and made sure we got the times and tours of our choise and Jose made anything we wanted in the restaurant. The kids are already missing Diego! Thanks for a amazing stay in La Fortuna.
