“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2009

Great place.
THe employees are very helpful.
The food is very good and fresh, and reasonable.
The dinners were as good if not better, and cheaprer, than anything in town.

THe employees know the area well and give good advice. The rate include taxes and breakfast and is reasonable.

Highlights of the area are the hot springs, skytram, Hotel Margot properrty with its sustainable theme. THe hot springs on the property was as good as any and very quiet and tranquil.

I would definitely stay here again and would like to thank the owner and employees for a great time. The owner sometimes tends the bar and is also a great resource.

This was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica. The good reviews on Trip Advisor are right on target. We were a grown family of 6. We got two cabins- one for 2 people and the other for 4 people. Both cabins were spacious, very clean, and ultra comfortable. With 4 of us in a cabin, there was plenty of space for all our suitcases and a grand sink/mirror area for everyone to use at once. The landscape has to be one of the best in that area. You can tell they strategically positioned the cabins for privacy while out on your private porch. I originally thought the cost expensive, but decided to splurge a little for the new years and I'm so glad i did. It turned out to be much more than I ever expected out of a $150/night room. The breakfasts are warm and there are several options, the on-site restaurant is pretty good (although on extreme tica time), and the view of the (non-active side) volcano was magnificent. I only wish those clouds would have disappeared. Everything was so nice- especially their Hot Springs in the back. We didn't have time to go back to their hotsprings until our last evening and it was a wonderful surprise. I wouldn't have paid for Balcones Springs if I knew about that place. Silencio is still very new so all accomodations and the springs have this fresh feeling about them, but still give you the Costa Rican lodging experience. It's also in a great location, especially if it's NYE and you want to go to the Disco (right across the road).

Also, we used their shuttle service (just ask the hotel) to pick us up from our hotel in San Jose and drive us to their hotel in Arenal/La Fortuna. They gave us a better rate than greyline or Interbus and were just as good. When the new shuttle broke down on the highway, another shuttle was there to pick us up in 30 minutes (fast for Tico time) . They solved the problem fast and we were on our way again to Arenal.

I'm sure this place will be in high demend very soon.

  • Liked — everything about the cabins are great, breakfasts, location, beauty, ambiance, quiet
  • Disliked — had a minor problem with the safe not being able to open, but it was fixed the next AM

When you travel to many different locations in Costa Rica, this is one of the TOP, with lovely gardens, private location & bungalows. But what sets this place over the top are its employees. Any imperfection, or help they can give, they give, they make sure every little detail is perfect, and you are in bliss at all times, form the amazing massages at Aura Spa nearby, to restaurant recommendations, ELIOMAR & VANESSA are especially perfect! We travel often to CR, and will be bringing our top clients again next month, for another unforgettable stay! xoxox heather

My wife and I stayed at Silencio for our honeymoon from Dec.26th to Dec. 30th and had a great time!

It all started as if we had made a terrible choice, we arrived in a rainy day, the hotel next door (a monstruosity that doesn`t belong in La Fortuna/Arenal) was playing some loud 80`s music and our cabin was the nearest to the road. "Great", I said, "we just left the sun, tranquility and view from Issimo at Manuel Antonio to a rainy, noisy place".

Next morning, the sun was already giving us it`s welcome and we could see how lovely Silencio is! Imagine a place with individual vilas, with paths full of colorrful flowers, plants, all so incredibly well treated that amazed us on our first look! Who is their gardener??

At the restaurant, a very kind staff gives you 4 to 5 options everyday while you enjoy a large plate of fruits, water, tea or coffee and watch the birds on the tree in front of it! Lovely! The restaurant is very good, better than many restaurants in the city with much more affordable prices.

The pool is not big, just large enough to relax during the afternoon but with a great gardening work and a partial view to the volcano.

The hot springs is GREAT! Private to the guests, with a bar next to it, and a full view to the volvano, coudn`t ask for more! Really, the second best thing in the hotel.

The staff, I have no words to describe them, Eliomar, Vanessa, Eric (i think it`s the name of the waiter) and everybody else are just perfect, the best the hotel has to offer.
From booking trips to room service, they are always ready and in a great mood! Just as reference, it was my birthday on the 28th and my wife wanted to surpise me, so she asked them if they could arrange a birthday cake for me. They did it, a delicious chocolate cake that made my best birthday ever.

Don`t hesitate, Silencio is the best offer you`ll get in Arenal!

  • Liked — Well tretaed garden and staff.
  • Disliked — Room too close to the road.

We were in the area for a friends wedding taking place at the large resort. Thankfully the cost of the resort scared me away enough to start my own search for somewhere nice, clean and resonably priced to stay. Boy was it worth it.
4 Different couples stayed at the same location as us and we had a wonderful time. The best was the hot springs located at the back of the property. The property is maintained and immaculately kept. The rooms are a comfortable size.
If in Costa Rica again, we will definitley stay again.
The breakfast was great every morning worth getting up early for.
