“A Comfy Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This is a beautiful, well cared for resort complete with manicured lawns, concrete walkways and hot springs. The cabins are well appointed and the beds are comfortable. A short walk from the cabin will take you to the hot springs, pool, spa or dining area. The rooms include wifi, television, in-room coffee maker, small fridge and safe. The staff are courteous and very nice.

If your vacation dream trip includes all the comforts of home, this is the place.

We did find the cost to be a bit pricey, but soon realized that accommodations in resorts are generally costlier than otherwise. Access to the hot springs from 7 am to 11 pm certainly made things better.

We are a family of 4(2 adults & kids ages 10, 16). We drove from Monteverde to La Fortuna. We stayed at El Silencio for 2 nights since we were unable to get reservations at Nayara Hotel for 4 nights. So we split our stay between El Silencio & Nayara. The check in here was smooth and the staff at the front desk was great. We had our welcome drinks and I was offered a free facial and I made an appointment right away. The free facial was great & very relaxing!
Grounds are beautiful and very clean but I was a little disappointed in the cabin that we stayed in. We stayed in cabin#24 which had a good volcano view but I think the room needs to be updated and the bathroom had some weird smell. I was slightly disappointed in their complimentary breakfast which now I might be comparing to Nayara which was phenomenal. It wasn't a buffet style but you can order one item from the menu which was omlette, rice, pancakes or toast. It is served with fruit platter and juice. I am a vegetarian so I ended up getting toast & butter and their coffee was just terrible. We chose to eat out for lunch & dinner since we wanted to explore the town. We had burritos & drinks one night by the thermal hot springs and that was great!

We really enjoyed their thermal hot springs and didn't feel the need to go to Tabacon Hot springs. If you just want the experience of hot springs the one on the property is pretty good. We went to see the Tabacon hot springs the next day to see if we wanted to buy tickets but we didn't think it was worth the money. But it's just an opinion since we took a glance at it and didn't actually experience it.
Eliomar at the front desk helped us in planning "Must Do's" and booked our ziplining and a couple other tours. He was just awesome! My kids loved the property and spent some time at the pool which wasn't too big but a decent size. There is a hotel built right in front which blocks some of the volcano view. Overall, its a great property for what you pay for and definitely great service.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. We spent our first three nights at the El Silencio del Campo. The hotel was great. Rooms were large and quiet individual free standing villas. The grounds were well kept and very pretty and had a quiet hot springs. The staff was very courteous. Breakfast was good. We ate one dinner and the food was excellent. It is close enough for a cheap cab to La Fortuna for other dinners. We enjoyed the area. The staff helped us book white water rafting & sky ziplines. We highly recommend both. My wife is a princess and she was a-ok with the hotel. We noticed a few large and crowded hotels in the area. We liked this one for its laid back feel .If we came back to the rain forest we would definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful and very well maintained resort with gorgeous volcano views. The hot spring pools are super clean, and the restaurant is very decent. The bar has its weaknesses. The rooms are all separate bungalows, nicely done, and perfectly clean. The ones closer to the room may be a bit loud. The staff at the front desk is helpful and friendly. Even though we typically do not stay in resort-like places, we really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed there last march with my husband. Great place to stay, nice view, amazing staff. Room was perfect, pool, small hot springs, really recommand it. Too bad for the big hotel, the "neighbour", obstruction of the view a little bit, but all the rest was perfect! Not downtown, but that exactly what we wanted. Near, but not in the centre of the crowd.

Room Tip: Had no. 18, perfect!

Stayed here over New Year's 2012/13, Despite this being high, high season, everything appeared calm at this hotel. I'm sure the staff were working incredibly hard, but each guest was treated as individuals. Amazing how the front desk staff knew everyone's name within a few hours. Jose at the bar and Eliomar at the front desk stand out for even higher standards of service.

Grounds are beautiful and well kept. Lots of birdlife to see. (Saw more on the property than people we met from a bird-watching trip!) The hotel's private hot springs were a delight, offering different temps and layouts surrounded by lovely vegetation. Being limited to hotel guests, the pools were never crowded -- unlike alternatives in the area.

Despite back problems, found the beds to be comfortable. Hot water was plentiful. Room had a bar fridge where we kept our water cold.

Food in the restaurant was tasty, although we would have liked the option of more fruit at breakfast - perhaps increasing the quantity in multiples of 2 guests, rather than the same for 2 and 4 people.

Did not need a car. Found it more relaxing and cheaper to book a driver from Liberia, and then take taxis as necessary. Most tours include the cost of pickup. The front desk provided excellent advice both before our arrival and during our stay. One day we opted for a hike to the lava fields from the 1960s eruption. A taxi dropped us and picked us up as arranged. Lovely views, quiet, saw more birds and animals, few visitors.

Highly recommend volunteering at or visiting Proyecto Asis.- an animal sanctuary with a fascinating tour and opportunity to feed the animals afterwards. All entry fees go to looking after the animals. Without a car, opted to pay for pickup and dropoff. This was a bit expensive, but still worth every penny.

One of the advantages of this area is that there are activities for all ages and levels of interest/ability. Hope to return later this year.
