Everything is great there. The staff is relaxed and helpful, the food and drinks are great, there's a flat pool - in a hostel yeah! - and the rooms are one of the more cleans among every backpackers i have been to in Costa Rica. The price is really reasonable for what you get from it.

I stayed in Costa Rica for about 3 months and I promise there is no better place to say that Arenal Backpacker's Resort. I am extremely high maintenance so I was nervous staying in a Costa Rican hostel. But WOW was this place awesome. I had stayed at places all over the entire country and no place was as good for the price. The entire place was very clean and wonderful service! The food was awesome and the staff was so helpful with planning a Waterfall Repel adventure!
I can't say enough great things about this hostel!

The hostel was cleaned daily, I stayed in a dorm with an ensuite which was kept very clean. The pool and views were lovely, the bar and food was great but above all the atmosphere and staff were amazing!!! I loved my stay here and it is most definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in. It's also walking distance to restaurants and shops and not far from the springs.

We went to Costa Rica for a two week vaccation, La fortuna was our second stop and we definately start loving costa Rica from the moment we arrived at Arenal Backpackers. The staff was amazingly great and honest, the place was clean, the water is actually hot in the bathroom which is a PLUS in CR, free internet acces was also nice to have. The cafe is Ok but you can fing great food in restaurant downtown. We were 2 girls and we felt really safe & secure at arenal backpackers, having a gate and a guard was comforting.
We really had a great time and were able to experience the real costa ricain life thanks to Allan and Nacho !
