“Already want to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

This was our first time in Costa Rica and we were looking for a mixture of adventure and relaxation. When we arrived at the hotel on October 1st we were greeted by the friendly staff with a drink and a cold towel. They checked us in and gave us a quick tour of the property.

Our room was amazing and the view was breathtaking. I loved the simplicity of it all. It wasn't the "white linen" or "swanky" hotels like we have in the states. This room matched the scenery around it. The bed was comfortable and I told my boyfriend it was the best sleep I had in years.

From what we heard from others staying at locations near our hotel, this one was the place to be! The swim up bar in the hot springs was our favorite and we found ourselves having drinks and little bites to eat often. The staff was knowledgable and friendly. The room was clean and they always stocked our coffee.

We enjoyed the food there as well. We ate at the main restaurant for breakfast everyday. The fresh fruit was delicious and the selection was nice. We had lunch at the Italian restaurant one day and enjoyed our margarita pizza with a view of the volcano.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. Whether you are with your family, friends, by yourself, or with your partner. This has something for everyone. We will be staying here next time we are in Costa Rica!

Room Tip: Two story rooms have the best view :)

Highly recommend staying at the Arenal Springs Resort & Spa. This adorable place is nested just off the main road. After almost 16 hours of flight & travel delays, I finally arrived to this wonderful little place. It was 3am & the staff was so welcoming & friendly, which was even more appreciated given my exhaustion & frustration. I honestly wished we could have stayed a couple more days. The view from our little bungalow was breathtaking. We were directly in front of the Arenal Volcano. The room was great. The beds comfy & the shower was amazing. The hotel provided lotion, shower wash, shampoo, & aloe, which was nice. There was also a hair dryer. The safe was perfect for iPads, Kindle's, & our passports. The windows opened to let in a nice cool breeze in the evenings. The hotel is eco-friendly, which is super cool.

The hotel grounds had security onsite where all cars / trucks, etc. were stopped to validate entry. I always felt safe & secure. Loved that.

The hotel staff was SUPER friendly & welcoming. They were always helpful and the concierge helped us book our tours. He was super knowledgeable & provided excellent recommendations. The front desk staff was fabulous as was the restaurant, bar, & pool staff. Everyone spoke well enough English (I was super amazed at how well everyone spoke English, especially considering I speak zero Spanish). Was an added perk. I realize not required, but still nice. :)

The breakfast that was included was exceptional if you ask me. There was something for everyone (omelets, waffles, french toast, pancakes, fresh fruit, yummy juice, coffee, cereal, toast, rice & beans, bacon, sausage, plantaines, etc.). I was super pleased with the breakfast. The hotel restaurants were great (sushi & italian).

I absolutely loved Hot Springs (Termal Pools). And, the swimming pool & swim up bar was fabulous. I also loved the yoga space (they laid out mats for guests to use) & the spa onsite (offers massages, pedi's, mani's, facials, couples massages, etc. - something for everyone) was great, too.

The grounds were so fresh & beautiful. Tough to describe in words, but the flowers, plants, benches, little babbeling brooks, & attention to detail everywhere.

We had a rented a car that we were able to park right outside our bungalow.

The hotel was very close to La Fortuna (city) restaurants, activities, shops, etc. We did the zip line & visited the La Fortuna waterfall. Both were great experiences.

The resort, the people, & the stay was positively perfect. Very much hope come back soon!

Had such a great & fun time! Thanks, Arenal Springs Resort & Spa!!

My friend and I stayed in this resort and loved it. It is a beautiful piece of property and our room opened up to a view of the volcano. The bathrooms are amazing with rocks and plants that mirror the rainforest. The staff including Edward who books tours Oto who helped cart us to and from our room were really great. The resort is gated so safety is not an issue and the roads getting to the resort are paved and well taken care of. The hot springs were great as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the front door facing the volcano.

My wife and I stayed at Arenal Springs on our honeymoon and could not have selected a better resort. From what we saw of similar resorts in the area, Arenal Springs Resort is the place to stay.

Our room was comfortable, spacious, clean, and well appointed. The shower is to die for and the hot springs are incredible! Our room looked onto the Volcano and the nightly thunder/lightning storms were amazing to watch! (Not to worry though they have outstanding staff driving around in golf carts so you never have to get wet!)

The resort was the perfect size and was not busy at all. The swim up bars and snack hut are great touches and so convenient for a relaxing day by the pool.

If the resort itself wasn't enough to impress us, the staff at Arenal Springs sure was. We have never seen staff pay such close attention to detail, and as a manager in the hospitality industry myself, I must say I would hire every single staff myself to work at my hotel too!

If you have a chance to book a treatment at the spa, we HIGHLY recommend it, it was amazing!

Thank you so much for the incredible, memorable, beautiful stay, and impeccable hospitality. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this resort to anybody and everybody traveling in the area, and cannot wait to return ourselves!

Room Tip: The smaller room numbers are closer to the hotel's amenities.

We stayed during August and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Since we flew from the UK (no direct flights) we came via Miami which was the quickest (and best value) route I could find .... although due to a lack of staff at Miami Airport (there was a sign up saying due to federal cuts) the flight transfer there was a nightmare with huge queues (strangely you have to enter through US immigration and then re-enter through all the customs checks again rather than merely being in transit, so with long queues to get in and then immediately back out of the US, we ended up running for our connection despite having 2 1/2 hours available)! [Top tip for UK travellers - despite the fact you are merely changing plane in US you still need the ESTA visa....a fact I very nearly missed!].

We took the hotel transport from San Jose airport to the hotel which made it a very long days travel and we arrived late at night. We awoke however to a fabulous view of the volcano and hummingbirds outside of the windows.

Another top tip however, it was very cloudy throughout our stay so the volcano was only fully visible for a few hours of our stay .... if it's visible get your photo's taken! August weather despite being the rainy season was mixed - temperatures were warm even when raining and there was also plenty of sunshine.

The pools are great with various temperatures and the landscaping throughout the whole property is sublime.

The rooms were great. We didn't find he beds too hard but I guess that's a matter of taste. What surprises me more is some of the comments on the meals. I don't know if we were just lucky but we found the food very tasty and very well presented by friendly staff - that's also the view of my two teenage daughters who don't give such praise lightly!

The hotel is well located for a variety of activities. They were very helpful in advance of our stay in helping us plan what to do. We did zip-lining, grade 4 white water rafting and the waterfall rappelling - all three of which were awesome. As an added bonus the white water rafting ended by taking us to a farm for a tasty local meal and we were given a tour and shown how chocolate and sugar cane are harvested in the area. The hotel were great at listening to the level of experience you were looking for and advising accordingly. We had 4 nights (only 3 days) and highly recommend both the hotel and Costa Rica in general - what a fabulous country!

Room Tip: I don't think think there are any bad rooms here - all seemed to have a great view of the volcan...

Beautiful property that was too close to nature for my wife's liking. She spent the better part of the evening pointing out each creature that entered our room. The open air bathroom was a bit too much for her. The room that we stayed in didn't have anything wrong with it by my account. It's not the Hilton, but I thought it was satisfactory.

The pool and hot springs area was incredible. We could have stayed there all evening.

The breakfast buffet in the morning was very well done.

This Resort provides everything you could want in a rest and relaxation vacation, yet when you need to get some exercise or an adrenaline rush, it's all within a 20 minute ride away. The luxurious vegetation surrounding the property and the 4 naturally hot spring pools, coupled with a swim up bar and sushi bar, make this a memorable spot. And all within a stone's throw of the impressive Arenal Volcano that dominates the skyline. Rooms 901 and 902 have the best view. Would certainly come back to stay again.
Our only comment would be the food in the main restaurant was not up to the excellence of the overall resort.
