“A slice of paradise on earth! Family friendly resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Best resort experience we had during our 10 day tour in Costa Rica! Beautiful tropical grounds show off various plants, fruit trees, and of course, a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano. Chalets are roomy, clean, and comfortable. Pool area has various hot springs and swim up bar so you can just relax and spend a lazy day soaking under the sun. Early morning, you can hear the birds calling so bring your binoculars if you're a bird watcher. We saw a green parrot and a Montezuma's Oropendola.
Food was always excellent. They even grow most of their produce on the property! Breakfast fares were fresh, hearty, and plentiful.
All staff were friendly and very attentive. Concierge was knowledgable and recommended activities to make your stay even better. They even offered yoga sessions and specialty massages (chocolate or mud massage anyone?).
Main town of La Fortuna is about 15 minutes taxi ride and costs about $10. Lots of activities to do in the area including a forest night walk, visiting the Rio Fortuna Waterfalls or the Arenal Volcano National Park.
Will definitely come back and stay at this resort with my family again!

Room Tip: Request for a room that does not face a parking area so you can enjoy the "green" view bet...

“made me sick...literally!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

There was a strong smell of pesticides or cleaning products all during our stay. Staff more interested in selling tours than listening to what we wanted. had to pay $35 (after driver said $20). to go for hike; $10 each way for the short distance to town

Thanks for your comment, but our hotel is rated as a green hotel so we never use chemicals only use natural products and biodegradable, also when our guests need some taxi service to some place we call the taxi station in the town of La Fortuna, these taxis as everyone in Costa Rica use a meter to calculate the cost of the service.
in this the hotel has no control, we hope this information help many travelers, thanks and blessings.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

We had a wonderful time here. The rooms are very private and clean. The beds and pillows were super hard, but that seems to be common in Central America. The garden in the bathroom was very nice... it made us feel like we were outdoors. The grounds were beautiful. The pools were various and good temps. and fun and clean too. The staff was super nice. The hotel, like many of them, is located outside of walking distance from town and taxi drivers charge an arm and a leg for a ride, so be prepared... local people are nice, however, and will give you a ride for a few bucks or a good conversation.

“Amazing views, great pools”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

The room was gorgeous, with an unbelievable view of the volcano, even from the shower which had a large viewing window! A bit uncomfortable until you realize all the cabins face the volcano and no one could see up into where you were. We had a second story cabin, there weren't too many of them, but we really enjoyed it.
The pools don't look natural but they all appear to feed from a natural spring down to the rest of the pools depending on the temperature you want. And GORGEOUS landscaping! Little semi-private pools throughout and a large one at the bottom for those of us that like to drink or eat while lounging in the warm water.
The tours all come to the lobby to come get you so that was convenient too.
Breakfast was buffet style, quick and fast. In Latin America you are lucky if it's somewhat timely but this place has breakfast down to a science for those that have tour schedules to keep. Even tour bus size. Food was decent, nachos were fabulous, drinks were very tasty! Food was rather expensive, but it's a luxury resort. The town of La Fortuna is very friendly, most people speak english, and it was fun to walk up and down the strip and around the park where the locals walked their dogs and played with their kids. About 10 min or less from the hotel.
The only negative I had was that all the cabins were laid out in a grid. It could have made so much more of an impact if it was curved, and a little more - less man made.

“Beautiful resort with fantastic staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

I was on a fantastic tour of Costa Rica with Caravan Tours which booked lodging for our tour group in some of the nicest lodging facilities offered in the country. My favorite among these was the Arenal Springs Resort at the base of the Arenal Volcano near La Fortuna. What made it so special were the individual bungalows set in a very natural environment, even with rocking chairs on each front veranda; beautifully maintained grounds with many birds and flowers; appealing aquatic facilities; free Wi-Fi; attention to decorative detail in the room and throughout the entire complex; good food and service; and an especially welcoming and friendly hostess who delighted in sharing the wonderful things they were doing to make the complex eco-friendly.and somewhat self-sustaining. I highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Request a room that faces the volcano.
