“A slice of paradise on earth! Family friendly resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Best resort experience we had during our 10 day tour in Costa Rica! Beautiful tropical grounds show off various plants, fruit trees, and of course, a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano. Chalets are roomy, clean, and comfortable. Pool area has various hot springs and swim up bar so you can just relax and spend a lazy day soaking under the sun. Early morning, you can hear the birds calling so bring your binoculars if you're a bird watcher. We saw a green parrot and a Montezuma's Oropendola.
Food was always excellent. They even grow most of their produce on the property! Breakfast fares were fresh, hearty, and plentiful.
All staff were friendly and very attentive. Concierge was knowledgable and recommended activities to make your stay even better. They even offered yoga sessions and specialty massages (chocolate or mud massage anyone?).
Main town of La Fortuna is about 15 minutes taxi ride and costs about $10. Lots of activities to do in the area including a forest night walk, visiting the Rio Fortuna Waterfalls or the Arenal Volcano National Park.
Will definitely come back and stay at this resort with my family again!

Room Tip: Request for a room that does not face a parking area so you can enjoy the "green" view bet...

We had a wonderful time here. The rooms are very private and clean. The beds and pillows were super hard, but that seems to be common in Central America. The garden in the bathroom was very nice... it made us feel like we were outdoors. The grounds were beautiful. The pools were various and good temps. and fun and clean too. The staff was super nice. The hotel, like many of them, is located outside of walking distance from town and taxi drivers charge an arm and a leg for a ride, so be prepared... local people are nice, however, and will give you a ride for a few bucks or a good conversation.

The room was gorgeous, with an unbelievable view of the volcano, even from the shower which had a large viewing window! A bit uncomfortable until you realize all the cabins face the volcano and no one could see up into where you were. We had a second story cabin, there weren't too many of them, but we really enjoyed it.
The pools don't look natural but they all appear to feed from a natural spring down to the rest of the pools depending on the temperature you want. And GORGEOUS landscaping! Little semi-private pools throughout and a large one at the bottom for those of us that like to drink or eat while lounging in the warm water.
The tours all come to the lobby to come get you so that was convenient too.
Breakfast was buffet style, quick and fast. In Latin America you are lucky if it's somewhat timely but this place has breakfast down to a science for those that have tour schedules to keep. Even tour bus size. Food was decent, nachos were fabulous, drinks were very tasty! Food was rather expensive, but it's a luxury resort. The town of La Fortuna is very friendly, most people speak english, and it was fun to walk up and down the strip and around the park where the locals walked their dogs and played with their kids. About 10 min or less from the hotel.
The only negative I had was that all the cabins were laid out in a grid. It could have made so much more of an impact if it was curved, and a little more - less man made.

I was on a fantastic tour of Costa Rica with Caravan Tours which booked lodging for our tour group in some of the nicest lodging facilities offered in the country. My favorite among these was the Arenal Springs Resort at the base of the Arenal Volcano near La Fortuna. What made it so special were the individual bungalows set in a very natural environment, even with rocking chairs on each front veranda; beautifully maintained grounds with many birds and flowers; appealing aquatic facilities; free Wi-Fi; attention to decorative detail in the room and throughout the entire complex; good food and service; and an especially welcoming and friendly hostess who delighted in sharing the wonderful things they were doing to make the complex eco-friendly.and somewhat self-sustaining. I highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Request a room that faces the volcano.

Not really a place for the disabled as rooms scattered through beautiful grounds but golf buggy available to run you around the hotel if prepared to wait. Restaurant and shop very expensive but top of the range accommodation so this was to be expected. Wonderful selection of hot springs and a spa at this hotel. Staff very helpful and polite. La Fortunate Town is not far away by taxi with a good selection of restaurants at reasonable prices and typical touristy type shops. Free Internet and wifi at reception. Wonderful place to stay with excellent views over the Arenal volcano.

Doing my research I was looking for a reasonably priced resort that included access to the hot springs. This is just the place. From our room we could not only see an unobstructed view of the volcano, but were within a short walking distance of everything we needed. The swim-up bar at the hot springs was great although a little pricey. We had a wonderful dinner at their restaurant. The food was excellent as was their wine list. Breakfast was a huge buffet with omelet station and a few selections I did not know but enjoyed anyway.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with full volcano view.

This place is a bit outside of town, which is what I wanted. I couldnt ask for a better place to stay. I stayed here my first night in Costa Rica, and no other place compared at all.
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. They are maintained everyday. When you check in, you are greeted with a hot towel and a drink. STaff is very friendly.
We arrived late our first day, and the bartender at the pool bar stayed open an extra 45 min for us.
The springs are the best in the area. They are drained everynight and filled back up. Very clean!!! I went to another place that had hot springs... let me tell you, after staying here, I did not even want to get into the other spring. It was not as clean nor warm.

The rooms are awesome! They all have their owner private parking space and have a porch area that opens up to the beautiful grounds! Rm 108 was awesome. It is directly across from the pool and has a great view of the volcano.

Highly recommend this place!
