“Fabulous resort, staff and food made this a home away from home to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 5 nights, and as our first stop in Costa Rica it really set the tone for a fantastic vacation. First off, the grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. The rooms are designed to feel like an intimate villa, and in spite of the semi-detached style, it feels cozy and private. The sound proofing between rooms could be a little bit better, but you could mostly only hear the other guests from the bathroom so it wasn't really an issue for us (and they were a very loud group so I doubt that is typical).

The fabulous hot springs pool with a swim-up bar was our favourite hang-out spot of the trip. It's even a great place to enjoy a meal as they have a sushi bar there as well as regular American food. To enjoy typical Costa Rican food, the restaurant had a great variety of dishes that tasted local and authentic. We left the resort only once for dinner, just because we wanted to see the town of La Fortuna, but we could have easily eaten a week's worth of meals at that restaurant -- there was so much variety and every dish we tried was delicious. The included buffet breakfast is also definitely worth making time for, if only for the juice, which is freshly squeezed and a different selection each day.

The service staff were extremely friendly, professional and catered to our every need. It was the perfect place to unwind and ease into our vacation.

“Good spot if you are with the kid!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

This hotel is excelent in service and good location. i would recommend it especialyy if you are with the kid. On bad days kids can spend time in the pool since it's warm from the springs.
You can see the volcano from your room.

“Lovely but disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

First, I could hear absolutely everything from the room next to mine. So I could not go to sleep until my neighbors did and I had to wake up when the did as well.

I scheduled a 105 minute facial and massage at the spa. She only spent 90 minutes with me. That is from the time she collected me to the time she left me. I told the front desk. They wrote down the information but did not even apologize.

The meals were very expensive for what you received. I ordered BBQ ribs one night and they were almost all fat. The sushi was very good.

I did have a lovely time. The grounds were lovely and the staff very pleasant and helpful (except for the massage). The hot springs were very enjoyable.

“Exactly what we wanted....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Our first few days in Costa Rica were spent here -- well, our nights were spent here (our days were spent waterfall rappelling, ziplining, and riding the rapids... The rooms were comfortable, quiet and the rest of our family was right next door. We awoke to the birds and watched a pair of toucans at breakfast. We spent the evenings in the hot pools in the rain -- a perfect combination! The staff were gracious and helpful. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with a great variety of Costa Rica horticulture -- attracting Montezumas, hummingbirds, herons, etc. I would definitely return!

Room Tip: It can be a considerable walk to the rooms. If you need assistance, they have golf carts.

“Great resort with great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Jsut returned after a three night stay at the Arenal Springs Resort. Although it rained the whole time we were there it didn't stop us from enjoying our time in the great hot spring pools on the property (why pay extra to go to a hot spring:)) and the great room. Our room was large, modern, clean, and quiet. The provided breakfast was great and the dinners were very reasonable. Service was top notch - front desk, bell boys, and restaurant. Had two great activities when staying at the hotel - - Wave Expeditions (river rafting) and Sky Trek (zip lining) - best ever!
