“Awesome Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

The tree house was our favorite place we stayed. The accomodations are very comfortable. The screened in shower was super cool. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed a nice hike down to the waterfall. The night tour on the grounds was a lot fun too. The best part of the stay was the delicious breakfast we were served every morning. Amazing food! Definitely worth the drive to La Fortuna to experience the tree houses.

It rarely stopped raining when we visited, but it didn't matter. The tree houses all have huge wrap around porches that are covered with a table and chairs. We loved spending time out there playing cards, reading and relaxing. The tree houses are isolated, you honestly feel like you have your own piece of the rainforest all to yourself. My husband was a little hesitant to stay here, but he enjoyed the experience.

The breakfast was AMAZING! Amazing. It was unexpected, and wonderful. They also bring coffee up to your tree house every morning, which was a lovely touch.

This hotel is about 30 minutes from La Fortuna, I didn't realize that when I booked... but it was worth the drive.

It was a wonderfully unique experience that I would recommend to everyone!

Room Tip: We stayed in the frog tree house. It is the smallest, but for a couple it was perfect. There was als...

There are monkeys that live on the property, as well as sloths, and toucans, and gigantic hummingbirds.
Coffee is delivered to your porch early early morning in a thermos. Breakfast is not only delicious, but artistically presented. You can have as much privacy as you want here--or you can socialize with the owners who are friendly and helpful.
Air conditioning worked well, bed slept well. Loved the shower which was sort of on a screened porch.
I absolutely did NOT want to go home!
Gah! Now I want to go back!!

Room Tip: Yiguirro is secluded and perfect for honeymooners.

We had a great time at the Tree Houses Hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the tree houses are very nice. The managers are very nice and helpful. My 16 year old daughter was very excited to stay here. It is about a 30 minute drive into La Fortuna, but worth it.

This was a wonderful place! I'd call it a jungle-bed-n-breakfast, of sorts. It was our first stop on a nine day adventure driving around Costa Rica. The tree houses themselves are wonderful, the grounds are natural, lush, and beautiful and Lucy, Mark, and the Tree Houses staff are great hosts! Their approach is laid back, yet accommodating. Breakfast was some of the best we had on our adventure...even better than an all-inclusive we stayed later in our trip. I would recommend Tree Houses Hotel over and over again. If you are an outdoor person, appreciate nature, and a little adventure....do NOT hesitate to book this amazing place. To conclude..I would like to comment on passed comments on "hearing" cars driving by. Please don't let this idea sway you from going here....It is the 21st century and there are cars everywhere in the world. If you want that delicious breakfast in the morning, don't be too perturbed when you hear the occasional vehicle driving by...its probably a delivery truck.

We were looking forward to sleeping in a tree house and seeing monkeys on our trip to Costa Rica. We were so excited when the howler monkeys greeted us upon arrival. One night there was a thunderstorm. How fun to lie in bed and listen to the rain and thunder. Mornings start early here at 6am with fresh Costa Rican coffee delivered to your porch plus a banana placed on the feeder to attract the birds. Then, a beautiful and delicious breakfast is served at 8am. The grounds are great for short or long hikes. Don't miss the night tour with Rolando. He found our group 2 frogs, a slot and a forest full of birds nesting for the night.

Please note: this hotel is about a 30 minute drive to Volcano Arenal and the sights there. Best if you have your own car. Only a few restaurants in town, but don't miss Happy Land and its iguana.

This place was exactly what I had expected and hoped for. For us spoiled Americans, this was roughing it in some ways. But we kayak and camp a lot, so this was great to us. We stayed here for 5 nights and I highly recommend it. We came to CR to get away from reality for 10 days, so I allowed no cell phones and no computers on this trip. And no "THE WORLD DIDN'T STOP TURNING"!!! Mark does an excellent job of booking all of your daily adventures and transportation if you don't rent a car. The coffee at your door every morning was very nice. The breakfast each morning was fantastic. Especially the coconut french toast "WOW". And the night walk with Rolondo was cool and recommended as well. This really is a tree house. So if your after total luxury, this is not your stop. But if your looking for great family fun and adventure, then it's time to make your reservation.

Room Tip: It's a tree house. Just pick one and enjoy the great outdoors.
