We stayed at the Tree Houses three nights and didn't have any problems with road noise at the Toucan House as noted by other reviewers.

We had early activities or a flight out two out of the three mornings we were there and the staff was very accommodating to work around their normal 8-9 breakfast schedule.

On the one day we did sleep in to almost 8 we enjoyed Mot-Mots, Hummingbirds and Woodpeckers at Breakfast, Sloths, Monkeys and Waterfalls afterwards.

We'll definitely recommend this place to friends that are asking about out trip and trying to plan their own.

My husband and I are writing this review while sadly waiting for our plane to leave Costa Rica. We had the pleasure of staying at the Tree House for 6 nights. Fantastic does not even begin to describe our experience there. Mark and Lucy were so welcoming and helpful and always took their time in pointing us in the right direction to restaurants and attractions. We stayed in the Congo tree house which was like our private piece of paradise. We thoroughly enjoyed our balcony, especially in the mornings, with our private "show'" of beautiful birds and listening to the howler monkeys. Our night walks with Rolando were amazing, as were the breakfasts! We can't wait to return...6 nights were NOT enough!

My boyfriend and I visited Costa Rica in July of 2013 and stayed here for part of our trip. We would have loved to stay here longer but by the time we heard of it, it was mostly booked up except for a few days they were able to squeeze us in.

This was our favorite part of the trip! The treehouses are cozy and cute and the surrounding jungle is amazing. They have a night hike lead by their night guard that you HAVE to do if you stay here! It was so amazing and he went out of his way to find a sloth for me because I told him I wanted to see one!

In the morning they put coffee on your balcony and set out fruit to attract birds and other animals. We had very early mornings while we were there and they were very accomodating and made us early breakfast. And speaking of the breakfasts....wow....they were delicious!

The owner and his wife are so nice and helpful! I booked everything through email and they were always quick to respond and gave us driving directions, restaurant recommendations, rental car recommendations, tour booking, and more. Any question I had, even ones not related to the Tree Houses, they answered!

If you visit Costa Rica, you absolutely have to stay here! You won't regret it!

Visited in July 2012 with my girlfriend. It was our first stop during a 10-day road trip. Hosts are from the U.S. and run the place for the owner. They were mild mannered, polite and helpful but not "over-the-top" when it came to hospitality. We drove from San Jose and it took a little effort to find it but we eventually found it and were able to get around easily by car once we got our bearings. Our neighbors were mostly young couples and small families.

The best part of our stay was hanging out or around the cabina (extremely unique and feels like you are literally in the jungle), the breakfast that is delivered every morning (fresh Costa Rican coffee with coffee cake, toast, or other breakfast items) and doing the night nature walk (highly recommended). The cabins are clean and well maintained. There was an intense lightning storm and the power and water went out for about an hour; we just watched the amazing downpour of rain and drank beers on the hosts' patio until utilities were restored.

Read signs before using the toilet and don't get freaked out if the cabin sways a little bit... it's like you're on a boat. Food options were a bit limited -- we drove to Arenal to dinner a couple times once we realized there wasn't much nearby. We booked a tour of Rio Celeste with the hosts and it was an amazing day (check out Rio Celeste nature walk on Trip Advisor if you like hiking, rivers and waterfalls). Also spent a few hours kayaking the Pena Blancas river. Very glad we stayed here during our road trip.

The Tree Houses and the grounds and jungle surrounding are outstanding. The Tree Houses are wonderful and very clean and comfortable. The scenery is unreal. Everywhere you look you will see beautiful flowers, plants and animals. I loved sitting on the deck and looking out over the jungle. One day we had howler monkeys within 20-30 feet putting on quite a show.
Each morning we enjoyed our morning coffee. The staff leaves a lovely thermos and all the fixings right outside the Tree House door. Breakfast in the "Rancho" was delicious every morning. We looked forward to the delectable surprise we would start each day with. Breakfast is always accompanied with fresh Costa Rican fruit. Along with your morning breakfast the hummingbirds and other birds come in for their breakfast as well. The hotel has provided feeding stations outside the rancho where we enjoyed a colorful display of Costa Rican birds, everyday. Toucan’s, Mot Mots, Tanagers, Hummingbirds and so many more.
The hotel staff is so friendly and helpful. It was obvious that my stay was important to them. Rolando is on hand most evenings to take you on a night walk, free of charge. He is amazing and animated in his knowledge. He found and shared with us sloths in the trees, armadillos, frogs, sleeping Mot Mot's, interesting insects. We gladly tipped him for his time as this was a definite highlight.

The hotel will assist you with any outside recreation you and your family might enjoy as well as transportation to get there.

Ask for directions to "Leo's". A cute little husband and wife souvenir shop. He carves the wood and she paints the pictures. They are such an inviting couple and I loved visiting with them and found some fun items to bring back to the states.

So if you want something more than the all-inclusive sceen, the Tree Houses is the place to go. I WILL RETURN.

When I decided to go to Costa Rica, I didn't want a "hotel" experience. I wanted to wake up in the environment in which I wanted to visit. The staff there were extremely accommodating and friendly. They made sure you understood all of your excursions and had the most wonderful guide...Juan Carlos to hike the Arenal volcano and Rio Celeste waterfall. The morning staff were fabulous with the breakfasts they served. Coffee was awaiting first thing in the morning on our porch before we headed down for breakfast. Again, I didn't want a sterile hotel experience, so this place was exactly what I was looking for. I encourage you to take the tour of the property that Rolando offered each evening...we didn't do it but wish we had made the time!

Our tree house far exceeded our expectations, and we absolutely loved it. It was an amazing experience. We so wished that we could have spent more time in our tree house. If you are going to stay here, we definitely recommend you to take the time to just relax and chill in your tree house, which we did not really do due to our schedule. Breakfast was very good, but you do not get a whole lot of variety since it is not buffet style. But it was very good nevertheless. We also really liked the guide, Juan Carlos, who works with the hotel and takes the guests on various trips. Please just note that it may, however, not be the best place for those with small kids (steep steps) or the elderly who have difficulty going up many stairs. Also, it is quite a bit of distance from the town.
