“Perfect end to a honeymoon”

This place is charmingly great! Being 20 or so feet up in the trees can give one an odd feeling, especially on a windy day. The building creaks, but you feel safe. We had our best showers here with plenty of warm water and the semi-outdoor feel of the screened in bathroom. The managers are extremely friendly and helpful. We chatted with both while enjoying the included breakfast each morning (which was incredibly delicious!). The best part of this place are the waterfall pools. While its a bit of a hike, its worth every step. Relaxing in the cool waters was the perfect way to end our trip to Costa Rica. Also, it isn't too far from La Fortuna and Volcan Arenal!

It's an easy decision to book one of the tree houses. Go for it. The hosts were incredibly responsive before, during, and even after our stay. The rooms are so peaceful, and the shower was our favorite of the trip. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and nicely presented. We would love to return.

Needless to say, the Tree House Hotel is immersed in the forest. On our visit, we saw sloths, armadillos, howler monkeys, and even heard the low purring of a puma. To be able to wake up and look outside your window to the canopy is truly an invigorating feeling. Then to walk to a deliciously cooked breakfast with humming birds is also another great experience in itself. The property only has five treehouses, so the privacy and reclusiveness is a welcomed luxury. The hike down to the pools is quite a gratifying one, as there is nothing better than a refreshing dip into a waterfall. The owners, Mark and Lucy, were exceptionally helpful for arranging tours in the La Fortuna area, and told us about Leo’s, a beautiful wood handcraft studio with the most authentic carvings we had seen in all of Costa Rica. When exploring the La Fortuna area, leave time in your schedule to enjoy the beauty of the tree houses themselves at night. If you speak Spanish or are bilingual, make sure to go on a night hike with the Tree House’s security guard, Rolando. It is a fascinating tour that goes throughout the whole property, and gives you the experience of what night in Costa Rica really is. Thanks so much to Tree House Hotel!

Loved our stay. Place was clean, well built, and staff very professional. They have great suggestions in activities, restaurants, and even souvenir stands. It was what I'd hoped it would be.

Wow amazing, view your literally in the middle of the trees, up as high as birds do and the sound of the night comes in through windows you can't but enjoy it. Its super clean huge beds, the shower you almost feel like your outside, the patio super cute. Sure the steps up and down are a little steep and even slippery when wet so becareful, but the trails are fun to walk to and from your tree house to the main house or to the trails that surround the area where you will encounter howling monkeys, cows, lizards and birds. Mark and Lucy are very nice and helpful and very knowledgeable, I drove in with Jody who is super nice but if as it was only two of us I later realized it would of been cheaper to get an interbus. We had dinner at bella verona which mark recommended and arranged for giulano and andres to pick us up and drop us back at the hotel after dinner free of charge, the pasta not good but the pizza incredibly delicious and they are so warm and nice. Definetly an experience anyone who loves trees should experience.

We recently returned from a two-night stay at The Treehouses just ouside of La Fortuna in Costa Rica. We booked our stay online with no complications. The Treehouses were everything we had hoped for and more! Simply said, our stay here was "Spectacular!" We were traveling with our three children (12, 8 and 4). This is not your typical backyard treehouse growing up! Instead our treehouse was incredibly accomodating AND comfortable for our large crew. There were two (I think queen) large beds and one had an attached bunk (great for your moody teenager...we actually got him to smile here at The Treehouses!) Our treehouse had its own bathroom complete with toilet, sink and shower (the shower had screened windows that opened up...my kiddos thought they were showering in the rainforest). There was a mini-fridge, safe and coffee maker. All beds (including the bunk) had reading lights and an outdoor deck with rocking chair and picnic table. The whole treehouse was very clean. If you didn't have time to stock your fridge with drinks...no worries. The Treehouses have this covered. They have a large cooler by the main office filled with bottled water, sodas, juices and beer. If you take a drink, you drop a coffee bean into your individual treehouse bowl. At the end of the stay, you pay for your drinks. A great way to introduce your children to an honor system. We had delicious pizza delivered to our Treehouse each night. Mark arranged this for me...great for a mom with three starving children in the middle of a rainforest ...how many times do you get to experience a pizza delivery driver on a motorcycle zooming up to your treehouse?! Obviously, this would never happen in a large scale resort. This is just one of the reasons we LOVED our stay at The Treehouses. We felt as if we were staying with family. All throughout our drive from San Jose, our driver (Jody Mangue from the Treehouses website....VERY knowledgable, personable, and down-right friendly) kept in touch with Mark (the manager) to let him know when we would arrive. As soon as we arrived, Mark greeted us (just like my grandmother used to do) and took me through the details of the property while my children and husband checked out the hummingbirds and played with the managers' pooches, Bayhooka, Sweetie and Little B. Each morning, Mark and his wife Lucy join in conversation with guests during breakfast at El Rancho... the coolest little pavilion steps away from each treehouse. Speaking of breakfast, the breakfasts here were the best we had in Costa Rica. One morning was banana french toast, and the other was spinach quiche! Even my three diverse eaters were happy. Mark and Luck were incredibly friendly and accomodating...we so enjoyed meeting them. Although I had a pretty good idea of tours that we wanted to do before our arrival, Mark solved all of my worries with transfers and other recommendations....there is only so much that you can tell from online pictures. Mark knows exactly which tour operators to go with to enjoy a fun AND safe adventure. (Be careful with some of the zipline operators...) One of the guides he set us up with, Juan Carlos, was again top-notch. He knew how to keep the tour interesting and engaging for my kiddos...not an easy task. We learned a lot from his tour and had a great time...yes, we got to see the top of Arenal! We were sad though, that we weren't able to take the night tour of the property with Ronaldo. We were too tired by the end of the day and by the time it got dark (really early this time of the year 6:00), we couldn't keep our eyes open. In addition, make sure to leave enough time to hike down to the waterfall on property. Easy hike, but don't go too late or you might get caught in the dark. My husband is still bummed that we didn't have but 5 minutes to experience this. Overall, our stay was A+ on all fronts. We hope to return soon to The Treehouses..two days were just not enough!

We stayed in one of the tree houses for two nights. While the twenty-minute drive to La Fortuna was somewhat of a hassle, there was a good restaurant within walking distance and a delicious, beautifully arranged breakfast at the hotel. The managers were extremely friendly and very helpful, helping us arrange tours, bringing up our luggage, and even giving us a ride to a nearby restaurant. The tree house was very clean, and what an extremely unique place - so much wildlife! It was also very private, as we could not see another tree house from our own. They have plenty of land, including a trail down to a waterfall with three small swimming holes, changing rooms, picnic tables, and a bathroom, which was absolutely beautiful. The only downside was that there was a tree growing through our tree house, leaving a tiny crack in the roof, and it leaked water down the side of the tree trunk. However, they set us up with towels and it didn't cause a problem. I'd recommend the tree houses to anyone and we'd come back without a second thought!
