“Fantastic setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

The setting of Arenal Country Inn is just idealic, the small wooden cabins set amoung a beautiful garden with lash trees and flowers and lots of exsotic birds, are very comfortable and roomy enough, with decent size bathroom with hot water, tv, air-con, fridge coffee making facilites and a small porch with comfortable seating. The volcano is standing very proud and visiable from every corner of the garden. The swimming pool is great too. The Inn is within a short walking distance from the town and a short taxi ride from the volcano waterfall. The only draw back is that the system for the cabins is different to the one in the main hotel, therefore if you need an early breakfast or an alarm call, forget it, but everything else make up for it.

Room Tip: If you need early morning service, such as alarm call or breakfast, make sure you arrange it the day...

We had planned a vacation through a travel agent who I think got some kind of kick back from this place. I imagine it would have been fine if we we're being charged $175/night for an uncomfortable bed, cold showers and so much street noise we couldn't sleep. Its a decent drive to the arenal national park b/c of the dirt roads.

I never really give negative reviews unless it was really that bad - everything else would have been fine if not for the fact that the room was so close to the main road. If you get rooms 1-3 avoid or bring ear plugs

Room Tip: do not stay in room 1-3, they're too close to the road

After coming from an all inclusive resort on the beach we are extremely happy with the Inn. The cabins were clean, cute, and in a beautiful garden setting. The free "tico" breakfast was good and the set up was nice. We walked into town, not too far about 10 minutes and did some shopping. We ate at El Establo next door and they had some great ceviche. The pool was relaxing and no one was there, and had a great view of Arenal Volcano from the hotel and pool. I would recommend staying here if you are busy sightseeing all day which most people are.

The Arenal Country Inn is a nice hotel in a beautiful garden setting. The cabins are a little old, but clean and quiet. You have TV (no remote control), a fridge and a small bench outside the room on the "terrace" to sit on and watch birds. Breakfast was not very good, not because of the Tico style but more because of the taste. We did not try the restaurant.Staff was friendly but speaks very poor English (as poor as my Spanish, maybe) The Arenal C.I. is outside of town, about a 10 min walk, but I think it´s quite dangerous to walk because the way to and from town is very dark and Ticos drive very wildly...All in all, this hotel was one of the better ones in Costa Rica.

Location it's OK if you want something close to La Fortuna, but no view from most of the rooms.
Hot water powered by LPG that can burn you if you are not aware of it!!
Breakfast opens until 7:00 AM so if you have a tour starting at 7:00 you will miss breakfast, that by the way is very basic, should have more fruit available for guests!!

If you are looking for a quite place to rest with a nice view and pool, this is the place. The rooms are average and they offer the basic things you can need. The hotel also is really close to the town, so you will find supermarkets and restaurants really close to you. The breakfast is good and the staff is friendly. As i said before, if you are looking for a calm non luxury place, this is a good option.

This property was pretty basic little duplex cabins with a nice pool looking up to Arenal Volcano. Bed was squeeky so changed over to second bed next night and it was fine. Breakfast setup was Tico style and average. Property lacked lustre with landscaping way behind good standard of cleanup. There was a guard walking the property at night and the barédisco was only two minutes walk with good food and entertainment. Cabins backed onto a very busy street so noise was an issue. Staff friendly and rates average.

Room Tip: Good place close to town
