As the other reviews say, this hotel is very basic, no frills, motel style.

Even considering the cost, this hotel was the least nice on our entire trip. The staff were nice and friendly, but offered little assistance and we ended up booking all of our travel plans on our own. The restaurant connected to the building was not open while we were there, but the desk worker from the night before was seen across the street, so we ate breakfast there.

The food was decent for the price ($10 dollars for 2 people, eggs & bacon with a drink).

However, the hotel itself was of very poor quality. You could feel the springs through the mattresses, the room was equipped with a television that couldn't be plugged in, and the bathroom smelled of mold. The paint they use on the various fixtures makes the place look more dirty than rustic. There was an air conditioner, but our windows were broken and did not close properly. The lock on the door was the same, you had to shake the key to get the lock to line up properly in order to lock the room.

For those going to visit the volcano park, it was a $25 cab ride from the hotel.

Overall, I would say spend the few extra dollars and stay somewhere else.

Very basic accommodations but clean and reasonably priced. Hotel manager was disappointingly unhelpful in arranging a tour for me; wound up walking into town and arranging my own.

This hotel offers no "frills", but you don't pay for them either. The rooms were airconditioned, clean, and had a refridgerator. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Th resturand and included breakfast were good too. If you want to lounge around a hotel all day, this place probably isn't for you. If you want a comfortable bed with basic services, as a bse for the days avtivities, this is a great place.

This is a basic motel - bathrooms are small (cold water only in the sink) and so is the bedroom. The restaurant is only open for hotel patrons at breakfast although it still advertises as a steak house. It is also a 2 km hike to the centre of La Fortuna. It was clean though and there is a pool at the back (you have to look for it). We really appreciated the front desk service and the access to the internet. Everyone was courteous and friendly to us and especially helpful with tours and such. If you like luxury accommodation I would suggest you pass this one by but it is a good value for the economical traveller.
