Convenient, clean, hot water, up to date and great views of the volcano. All at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Facing the pool and volcano

Staff is rude and unfriendly. Rooms are expensive for what you get.
It's a miracle tico people can be that unfriendly.
Don't go here.

I'm going to state the good things first... There is one, the view of the volcano (although I may want to add anywhere you stay in la fortuna you have a view unless you don't have a window) the staff are incredibly rude!! Except from one lady in the restaurant! "luigi" is a complete con artist with absolutely no interest in customer satisfaction! The hotel is soooo noisy where ever your room is situated or whatever time of day, the staff shout to and from each other at all hours that's off you can hear that over the drilling banging etc that was going on all day from 6am during our stay of 7 nights!!! It's obviously unease here too, our safe didn't work or had no key to use it, and there isn't really any kind of lock on the doors, which is quite worrying! As we were concerned about having things stolen we asked 4 different members of staff, we didn't want our room cleaning! Spite this they ignored us and in many occasions went into our room! On one occasion we set them up and watched while one cleaner lady went in to have a nose and one "waited" outside our room to see if anyone was coming!!!! Il leave the rest to your imagination! Luckily for us we left nothing for them to steal! Also don't be fooled by the big bath tub, there is not one plug in any of the rooms, so you won't be able to actually use it! And when we asked the staff for a plug the receptionist (a 15 year old guy with an attitude problem) told us to roll our pants up and stick them down the plug hole if we wanted to use it!! It's just one big joke, really don't be foolish enough like us not to read these reviews before staying here!!!!!  When two girls arrived in the room next to us and were clearly being bullied into staying we told them to check trip advisor, ofcourse when the managers weren't around they left! Even though nobody seen us talking to the girls the manager luigi followed us to our room and threatened my husband physically pinning him against the room door and accusing him of scaring away guests! Yes we did talk to the girls and advise them that there is better but since when can't customers advise eachother etc.. We packed our things and left immediately to loose all the pre paid money for the remaing four days!!

Well, if you can find something else it would be better, but if you are staying here it is not a total loss.

The rooms are very good, and so is the pool and the location. We didn't try lunch or dinner, since the breakfast didn't blow us away really.

The real downside of this hotel is their constant 'miscalculations' at the reception. On three occasions she made mistakes and although it was so obvious she kept trying. If it didn't made us feel uncomfortable it would be funny.

Though the front desk people were not noticeably welcoming as those in the adjoining restaurant, everything was great. Comfy beds in a clean room. Close to the plaza, good breakfast, and helpfully arranged a tour with Red Lava, which was also amazing.

Great hotel with reasonable fees and good customer service. Awesome view of Volcan Arenal from hotel balcony! Pay just a little extra and you get a filling breakfast. One of the few hotels with hot water!

We stayed at luigis for two nights before packing up and moving to a dormetory hostel, which was ten times better!! The rooms are old, dingy, damp and dirty..the staff (apart from one lovely lady) are soo rude and inconsiderate to your needs as a guest, we were awoken every day between six and nine with shouting, drilling and banging (all without warning) on the third day they had litteraly removed the roof to our room without warning and could only after complaining to offer to move us two doors down, or to leave and loose the pre paid seven nights stay!! The staff offered us free tea and coffee on our first day, by the third day a different member of staff shouted at us and demanded we pay for the tea, and all the other cups we had as apparently it is not free now!!! There is no plug for the bath, the receptionist said none of the rooms had plugs and that we had to stuff our pants down the drain to stop the water!!!!!haha we were moved rooms inbetween all this as the toilet had broken. We also for our own security asked the cleaners not to enter the room, we asked three seperate people. We did not strangely have a key to the safe so we hid all our valuables when we left the room, despite this we would come back to find two fresh towels dunked on the bed, the bed pulled up (the sheet just chucked over not done neatly) and things moved around the room!!!nothing was ever cleaned...soo we left a note on the door in the end!!!! Food in restaurant is more expensive than london and the quality is about as good as a cold mcdonalds!!! Anyway, i never review hotels, and are always accepting of general issues and errors that do come with hotels at times, but at luigis it was their 'dont care about the customer' attitude that pushed me to write about these issues. There are ten times bette accomodation in la fortuna and surrounding area for the same price and even cheaper...at all cost avoid luigis 'faulty towers' hotel!!!!
