“How relaxing can it get?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011

Loved the location and the view of the volcano. My balcony was the perfect setting for gazing & snoozing. The landscape & buildings were incredible, one of a kind; but be ready to climb some stairs and walk up some hills. (they do provide golf cart service around the property). Spa services are outstanding, I had a massage every day. There were many options for the ambitious (hiking, touring, zip lining, etc) but I chose to relax & relax. In the cool pool, in the warm pool. Swim up to the bar, take a nap. Food was exceptional as was the wine selection. I hope to return very soon

The hotel is phenomenal, we stayed in Costa for 9 days and at this hotel for only 3 and we had the absolute amazing time. The staff are all so friendly and so helpful and very servicing to your needs.

Lost Iguana is paradise, its very relaxing with wonderful scenery. They even have a hiking trail that you can do on site, that was soo much fun, very adventurous.
I have nothing negative to say about Lost Iguana. I would definitely stay here again without a doubt, if they don't change administration of course. Thanks to the staff for making our trip so memorable!

Photos of the hotel soon to come, just got back back yesterday and wanted to post right away because I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!

Five days at the Lost Iguana transported me into another world, a much needed vacation surrounded by the sights and sounds of the rain forest. Although every room has a view of Arenal volcano, I found myself sitting on my porch several times a day and taking it in, along with the bees, insects, birds and monkeys that flew in front of me. The food was delicious and the restaurant staff was glad to accommodate special requests. All the staffers were super attentive and helpful in arranging excursions off the property. The gift shop and spa were also great surprises. But the best part of the resort is its location amidst the lush foliage of the rain forest. A wave of relaxation still comes over me when I think of that volcano.

This is truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. The Lost Iguana Resort and Spa is nestled in the heart of the rainforest where you are completely submerged in nature. This was our second trip to the lost Iguana and this time we met a group of friends there for a week long yoga retreat. It was wonderful to start the day in the outdoor yoga pavilion overlooking the forest canopy. We were very excited to see monkeys, sloths, anteaters, butterflies, and many different kinds of birds including hummingbirds, tucans, and the great horned owl, along with the Iguanas. The lush grounds are magnificent with wonderful walking trails throughout that are lit at night for evening strolls. There are also great hiking trails on the grounds for those who are more adventurous. I highly recommend the guided nature hike that the resort offers. The rooms are beautifully furnished and spacious and offer a perfect view of Volcano Arenal. We stayed in a deluxe suite which had a whirlpool jaccuzi bathtub on the patio with a indoor/outdoor rainforest shower. My husband and I received a couples massage in the outdoor bungalo at the spa which was warmed by the fireplace, the sounds of the river below and nature all around. The resort staff was warm and friendly and offered excellent service. We enjoyed their outdoor restaurant, the two pools (one heated), The Hanging Bridges, zippling, mountain biking, a river float ride, white water rafting, and bathing in the healing hot springs. La Fortuna is close by if you want to go into town for a bite to eat, shopping, or a hike down to the magnificent waterfall. The Lost Iguana is a perfect place to find beauty, relaxation, and adventure all in one place. And you can't beat the price of this 5-star resort and spa. My husband and I no longer have the desire to go anywhere else. In fact we are returning to Lost Iguana again this fall.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great and offer a perfect view of the volcano. For a few extra dollars we upgra...

Lost Iguana is a very unique hotel. The rooms are spacious and have a lot of local art work. The rooms have a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano. My favorite part of this hotel was actually their gift shop; they have a lot of interesting things from all over the world and it was not unreasonably priced. The heated pool was also really nice and there is a decent happy hour. I thought the staff could have been friendlier in the restaurant; they seemed a little impatient but we may have just caught them on a bad morning. If you are wary of bugs, I might not recommend this particular hotel. It is just a part of being in this region of the country. But the beds have mosquito nets and if you sleep with them draped over your bed, you'll be fine. It was a pretty awesome place, I would go back.

Room Tip: Room number 10 has a great view and low noise pollution as it is in the corner

Parents traveling with 2 teen children, stayed in Celebrity Suites--2 BR and living/kitchenette. Beautiful view of volcano and a multitude of butterflies and hummingbirds from the rocking chairs on the veranda. Staff was very attentive (especially when a rainstorm drove ants into our room--they came with Raid and a broom and took care of the uninvited guests). Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Pool area with 2 pools--we especially liked the one that was very warm, with bar stools and Jonathan the bartender. Spa is a beautiful combination of rainforest sounds and Bali decor--very soothing and a nice menu of services. Tours arranged by staff were all exellent (we saw many animals and enjoyed hot springs, hikes and zip lines). Restaurant has a varied menu, all dishes were well made. The gift shop is as good (if not better) than any in town. Remote location, but the Lost Iguana has everything you need, so we did not feel isolated. The daily walks to pool and restaurant were challenging--but beautiful treks all t themselves.

Room Tip: Celebrity suite--best views! 1 king bedroom and one with 2 doubles.
