“Enjoyed my stay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

Great apartment, very clean and lots of space. The bathroom has good water pressure and you are allowed to flush toilet paper.
I stayed for 2 nights, but highly recommend this place for people who want to stay for longterm as well, there's a kitchen and a grocery store is walking distance (but not a quick walk, maybe 20 min) or about a $2.00 cab ride. It's very close to One Love Lounge and It's about a $3.00 cab ride into the downtown area, Lava Lounge was awesome, so I went there. Please keep in mind that these are apartments, so there is not a safe or telephone or clock, however, I was a solo female traveler and felt very safe and all of my belongings were fine. I think there is always security near by.

The owners are very nice, and live on site. Sergio was very helpful and let me use the phone to take care of my tour issues and he would call the cab for me. They also have a restaurant onsite and an office to book tours. I enjoyed chatting with Sergio about his family and how they ended up building the apart hotel.

If I go back to Arenal, I will definitely return. I stayed on the ground level, only thing I noticed is the wifi signal wasn't that strong in my room, but it was no big deal because they free wifi was easily accessible when I would walk outside or stay in my kitchen area.

Sergio was also great at responding to my emails and answering my questions before I arrived. Thanks for again for your help and making my stay at your hotel a great one!

Take care,

Jenn (from Toronto, CA)

Unfortunately for us, our one night stay in la Fortuna, came at the end of a three week Caravan Tour/DIY adventure. My wife, son, and I had stayed in no less then twelve 3-5 star hotel/motels all over Costa Rica. We can honestly say that Sergio's and Norma's beautiful apartment was the cleanest, most functional, in the best location, friendliest place we stayed. Sergio is from Argentina, and Norma is from Spain and spent 30 years living in Southern California. They understand the North American/European tourist like no one else. We hope to spend a month with them next year. Although our visit was brief, we left feeling like family. PURA VITA!

My husband and 2 kids (11 & 8) stayed here for 4 days, 3 nights, in Unit 203. It is really clean- they serviced it everyday and gave us clean towels; nice sized rooms and kitchen/dining area. Sergio and Norma are great- so friendly and helpful and because they are from CA, they understand American needs and of course, had excellent English. The apart hotel is behind a delicious "Delicatessen" which serves good Costa Rican food (and we noticed that it had high ratings on Tripadvisor). Sergio can also assist with tours. Water pressure and temperature was great (very important since we had 6 days of cold showers the days before in a different part of Costa Rica). The kitchen has a full size frig, microwave, stove/oven (we baked brownies and cornbread). When you arrive, you can find Sergio in the office right next door to the delicatessen.

Great location near town and the volcano. Superb construction, very clean and comfortable and a great view out the balcony is a BONUS!!! The place has a full kitchen but we ate at the restaurant in front when we did not feel like cooking. The owners are super friendly and very helpful, they make you feel at home.

We stayed here for almost a month, and have nothing but good things to say about Sergio, his family and the apartments! The quality of the material and construction of these apartments is superb. All things that we needed for everyday living were provided. Since we were there for almost a month we cooked plenty of meals. You are allowed to do 2 loads of laundry a week, and the washer is plenty big so it's fine. The AC is nice and there are fans in all rooms. Sergio went beyond to accommodate our needs, he even switched the beds (from 2 twins to a full) in the second bedroom to make our visitors more comfortable! Close enough to everything far enough to avoid the noise and crowds. The safety you feel is also a plus, it's entrance is small and the whole property is walled in, Sergio and his wife live there so they are "in the know" of what is going on. We also noticed that daily there is maintenance given to the building, even though it looks brand new. Painting, gardening, cleaning always something to make it better. I highly recommend Tierra del Fuego especially for those that plan to have a longer stay!

Room Tip: Third floor had awesome views of volcano!

This place is right in the middle of where you want to be. Its between many of the high end hotels and the small town. Perfectly located close to all tours, volcano, water fall, cerro chato, etc! They sell tours up front and have 2 different restaurants as well. Short walk to the grocery store as well. Will stay here again.

This place was absolutely perfect! I loved the amazing view outside my balcony of the volcano (great place to eat breakfast)
My parents came to visit me while I was staying there & they too loved the view.
The two bedroom had everything I wanted and needed & the bathroom shower was wide and spacious (the big laundry room downstairs was perfect for doing all my clothes). My place had two air conditioner units so it was plenty cool in the hot days.
But out of everything, I'd have to say that Sergio & his family by far made the place such a welcoming getaway. They went out of their way to make me comfortable.

P.S. their daughters & son in-laws restaurant downstairs makes the absolute best watermelon smoothy I have EVER had. Ask Johny for it!
