“very nice hotel with beautiful gardens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Rooms were very nice with a small outside sitting area in the gardens (which were lovely). We had a fantastic view of Arenal Volcano. Walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors' television. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Kids seemed to love the pool. The only downside is the restaurant - the menu was not appealing at all which was unfortunate since we did not have a car. However buffet breakfast was fine. A new restaurant is being constructed - hopefully with the new restaurant will come a new menu/chef.

Room Tip: One of our party required an accessible room. However, this room (#315) is located the furthest fro...

Loved our stay here! The grounds are breathtaking and are worth a walk around. Paid for 3 nights and got the 4th free! Breakfast every morning was delicious. Very helpful and friendly staff, accommodated our many excursions.

As a garden lover, this place was perfect for me. Of course the flowers and vegetation also attracted many birds which I loved. The rooms were large and comfortable and the pool and area was good. There is a large hot tub which we enjoyed as it can get chilly in Arenal, especially late in the day. The only meals we had here were 2 breakfasts and they were good.

The hotel/lodge is located amidst the beautiful garden. The property has only single story lodges. Which makes them look like private villas. Most of the rooms face Arenal Volcano and all have patios with a beautiful garden view. There are so many birds as well as other wildlife. Every morning we were awakened by numerous birds chirping and even a donkey in a farm near by. Well, at least we think it was a donkey. Who knows??? In this land of many wildlife, it could've been some exotic animal I've never heard of.
The patio had a pair of nice comfortable Costa Rican rocking chairs. We sat there, and enjoyed the garden and the scenery.
The free breakfast was pretty good with an egg station where you can get eggs and omelets made to order.
The pool and Jacuzzi was very nice.
Free shuttles to/from the town of Fortuna few times a day.
We would definitely stay there again!

The location is spectacular and the property is beautiful! The room is good but nothing exceptional. The housekeeping staff is great. They left a different towel sculpture each day - a hit with the 11 year-old! The service in the restaurant is slow. One waiter in particular clearly wishes he were doing something different with his time and it shows. Unfortunately, we had him for happy hour, breakfast and lunch. The breakfast buffet is great; it includes a cook-to--order omelette bar with fresh ingredients. Overall, good family choice.

We stayed here with a free trip to Baldi hot springs included. The staff was very helpful even when we forgot what day it was and missed an excursion. The room was ok, nothing spectacular and not as good as the Manoa next door. We had a somewhat blocked view by a wall and it was probably due to the fact we booked the cheapest room. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was nice. The swim up bar is nice and the breakfast being included was great. The waitstaff in the restaurant is slow and you have to pester them for anything. I recommend this as the views were nice of the volcano and the maids made towel animals every day

Room Tip: Don't book 212 as it has a partial view of the volcano

Volcano Lodge & Gardens offered a beautiful landscape with a great size room and view of the volcano. Upon arriving to the hotel, we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff and a comped welcome drink! From there, we were centrally located to all of the excursions we wanted to take (Tabacon Hot Springs, ATVing, white water rafting, etc.) We did not book through the hotel (check out Wave Expeditions - awesome company!).

The breakfast provided was very delicious and full of choices! Pool area is great for families and laying out. All in all, a wonderful stay at this recommended spot!
