“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Very wonderful hotel and it was way too cheap. It has wonderful gardens and a beautiful pool. The room was spotless and the view remarkable. It was a great start to a Costa Rica vacation. The service was friendly and attentive. Each room has a private patio wonderfully landscaped to view the volcano.

“Great hotel, Great Staff, Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We booked this hotel for two nights and stayed for five. It was the best hotel overall that we stayed at in our three week visit.
The staff were excellent. Almost all were fluent in English, but more importantly all excelled in customer service. Every staff member we met was unfailingly polite and helpful. Servers knew proper serving etiquette, were attentive but not intrusive.etc. The food was excellent, well presented and very reasonably priced. We ate at the hotel every night, which is unusual for us because we usually like to try different locations. But the food was so good with plenty of variety, and service was so excellent we felt no need to explore other restaurants.
The rooms were very nice, nothing special but clean, comfortable, and roomy with beautiful views of the Arenal volcano from the patio. The grounds are beautifully maintained and you can just wander the paths admiring the flora. The pool area is relaxing and happy hour is a nice touch.
Kudos to the management of this hotel. You can tell the staff are well trained, the kitchen is well run, grounds and pool maintenance is continuous. All in all, a very well run hotel and a great value.

“Just a few things”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I thought the stay was nice at the Volcano lodge. The room was good, shower was huge! It was very quiet and peaceful. The restaurant food was good, but breakfast was the same everyday. The staff was nice, but do not expect very "up to par" service. Your drink goes dry and will stay that way until you go and find your waiter/ waitress. Hardly any of the wait staff speak english which made me feel a bit out of place. White water rafting was great and so was the volcano hike.

Room Tip: make sure your room is not by the scenic trail

“Pretty gardens, spacious room even with extra bed, good breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The standard room is spacious even with an extra bed, and we had 3 adults and 1 child. Rooms are clean an modern. Probably not the best choice if you don't have a car, as it is a few km west of town. Bfast buffet was very good. All rooms have good volcano view.

“Great view of Arenal Volcano”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Biggest asset of property is view of volcano. Great landscaping but rooms somewhat dated. Poor restaurant, even just for breakfast. Staff tries but property is a notch below the best in the area. Also a bit far from La Fortuna to run in for a better meal.

Room Tip: Ask for volcano view not blocked by trees.

Thank you very much for your comments,

Volcano Lodge & Gardens, has an structure based on traditional Costa Rica, architecture, where wood finishes prevail in our rooms.

Regarding the restaurants, we decided to take our hotel a more practical feeding option, since most of our guests use their time in different tourism activities that exist in the area.

Also, the hotel offers shuttles to La Fortuna Downtown, where guests can visit our selected restaurants.

Thank you for helping us improve,
