“Honeymoon Trip”

This was a great hotel. They pride themselves in sustainable tourism by encouraging recycling and tree planting. The pool and hot tub were great the location was close to town. The food was amazing. The private porch was perfect place to relax and read. It was very clean, my only complaint is that the bed was very uncomfortable.

This was the 1st stop of our vacation to Costa Rica and it was great! The hotel was spread out across the grounds/gardens in 4-room units. The pathways throughout the grounds were well laid out and properly signed to help you find your way around. The porch area with rockers on the back of the units was great for relaxing in the early morning or evenings.
The breakfast buffet each day was great and even though we had 3 meals there, we never tired of the variety of food offered.
The hotel staff were all nice and very accommodating. It was not one of the "ritzier" hotels in the area, but I enjoyed my stay there and would certainly stay there again.
Of course the view of the volcano was magnificent, but the well-managed gardens was the most surprising part of staying here.

My wife and I fell in love with the Volcano Lodge and Gardens. From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly and went out of their way to assist in our stay. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast buffet was out of this world. The amount of flowers and hummingbirds made the stay very peaceful as we sat outside of our room. I would recommend anyone going to the Arenal Volcano area, this is a must stay!

Room Tip: Rooms close to the pool area appear to have a good view of volcano.

Stayed 2 nights. Good room, nice shower. Noisy neighbors in the morning but nice place overall. The restaurant is adequate. For a great meal go across the street to Benedictus. Volcano Lodge &Gardens has a nice pool with a large jacuzzi. Great view of volcano.

We spent 4 nights here and really enjoyed our stay.

Room – We loved our private porch with rocking chairs and views of the gardens and volcano. The room could use some minor updating but overall it was very clean so no major complaints. We missed not having a fridge but they do have an ice machine. Hot water was sometimes lacking and having to throw toilet paper in the garbage may be a turn off for some people (apparently that is common place in much of Costa Rica though). Our room was near the restaurant and so we had excellent WiFi reception right in our room (even though they advertise it’s only available in common areas).

Food – The included hot breakfast was fine, but they need to do something about the bugs here. I understand it is an open air restaurant but we ate at many of these types of restaurants while in Costa Rica and they all seemed to have a deterrent such as fans. We ate a few other meals at the restaurant and the food was very good. Prices were OK, about $10-20 for mains. 2 for 1 drinks in the afternoon were a good deal. Having spent 4 nights here the menu could have been a bit larger but luckily you are close enough to La Fortuna and other hotels more dining options.

Hotel – The hotel is extremely well maintained. They have extensive gardens and even their own walking trail. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The pools and hot tubs were nice with a waterfall and swim up bar at the main pool. The location is good IF you have a car. With a car we had the freedom to go to town for meals whenever we liked and plan our own schedule instead of relying on tours. The hotel is also close to the various hot springs resorts such as Baldi, The Springs and Tabacon. We went to the The Springs which we loved, and was basically next door to Volcano Lodge.

Overall we would recommend this hotel. Feel free to message me with questions.

Room Tip: Request a volcano view room close to the restaurant for great views and in-room Wifi.

when the weather allows you to see the peak, or any part of it! Rooms are nice, but thin walls (you will hear your neighbors, so try to get an end unit). Two nice, but not very large, pools. Restaurant is excellent with great service. The grounds are very beautiful and attract many tropical birds. The room keys seem to fail fairly often, and it took too long for the front office to get us replacements one time (we returned, were locked out, it was pouring, and it took three attempts to get new keys (the restaurant staff finally ran down to the office for us since the front staff was not responding). Still, very much worth staying, for the view and the grounds.

Room Tip: It seemed like all rooms had some sort of a view of the volcano. All were away from the pools, with...

This hotel has put a lot of effort into their landscaping and gardens. The pools are also both very nice. The restaurant has its pros and cons--While the food is fine, the service was a little odd. The waiters seemed confused and perhaps a little less than fully committed to their jobs, almost as if they were distracted somehow. The breakfast buffet was quite adequate, although the corn flakes were stale, according to one member of our party. The hotel rooms are large and comfortable. We slept very well there as it was cool and quiet. I would recommend it to anyone going to this area.
