“Clean, nice views and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2010

Me and my father stayed there for 2 nights during our visit in the area. The place is located outside of town towards the entrance of the park. Overall, the room was really big, clean and inviting. There was a jacuzzi the living room and lots of windows, safe in the room. The only complaints was that the water from the shower would flood the bathroom because of the floor not being properly leveled. We also had problems with the AC leaking. They came twice to fix it, and when it happened a third time, we just put a towel under and gave up. It wasn't really a problem however.
The breakfast was delicious, we managed to pick up WIFI in our room from the reception, and the one dinner we had there was reasonable.
We did get a discount for the room by asking and that made the value very good. I am not sure I would pay more than $100 per night, but again it depends how much you are willing to pay.
Would return.

Although the staff were nice, my room was filled with black mold, no doubt due to shoddy construction. The bathroom wallpaper was literally peeling off the walls, and although I will say the pressure in the shower was great, the shower holder fell on my foot the first time I went to use it. The bungalows are so cute here, but when it rained heavily the floor flooded, due to a leaky porch roof and a crack under the door. I also stepped out back one evening for a cigarette, not thinking to not close the door behind me and save them some electricity. I quickly found out that for security reasons it locks itself automatically and had to jump five feet on a steep incline to escape. Also there is no internet connection in the rooms, you have to walk down the road to reception to use your computer. They also overcharge for spa services, and adventure tour packages. All in all a very pretty crap heap.

Rooms are ok, but the views are so incredible it doesn't matter what the rooms are like. We could see the volcano erupt from our bed at night. breakfast was a great deal. the staff was really nice. the pool was great for the kids. the drinks were overpriced. the horsebackriding across the street with Alex was the thighlight of the trip. He is the best!

We found the hotel staff to be friendly and accommodating, however we were extremely disappointed with our room. We had a room with a single and queen bed, both of which were smaller than standard size and extremely uncomfortable. There were ants in the room and the room itself was extremely small and stuffy. The air conditioner barely worked. While there is a sliding card lock on the front door- this was not needed to get into the room, as we could easily push the "locked" door in and gain entrance which did not make us feel very safe. The spa and pool bar were both nice.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in May. Really good value. The rooms are individual cottages. Ours had two small porches, one with a fantastic view of the volcano and the other one facing the gardens. The room had air conditioning (although it took a bit to cool off during the day) and a small fridge. Everything was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good and breakfast was included.

We stayed there 3 nights in March 2010. The hotel had a list of tours for hotel guests. We made reservation for two tours including horse back riding. Because it rained pretty hard for all 3 days, we cancelled the horse back riding. They said they would refund us. But it is now mid-May, and we haven't see any refund. We have disputed with our Amex credit card. But there is no reason for them to hold the refund for so long.

Hold your wallet/credit tight. Don't pay anything you are not sure about. Their tours were more expensive. We really liked the Desafio Adventure Company.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about your stay on Tripadvisor.

I would like to apologize for what seems to have been a less than satisfactory stay with us.

Your feedback is important and please be assured that we take it seriously, which is why I have already passed the message to Montana Tours which operates as a different company than Montana de Fuego Hotel & Spa.

Thank you for your valuable feedback once again.
