This hotel is pictuesque. It is located at the base of Arenal volcano, the views are good. The hotel itself could use some TLC. The rooms need updating. Air conditioner is not adequate. Shower has sufficient water pressure, the head sprays in many different directions.

Beautiful grounds, cabins have glassed in porches with rocking chairs. Loved the mineral pools and the bar with excellent service.Delicious full breakfast included, with attentive staff, in a breathtaking dinning room with ceiling to floor glass wall facing Arenal volcano. It is a rainforest and it was off and on rain for 2 of the 3 days. They have stables and some gorgeous paths for riding over the verdant hills.... a very peaceful place.
We had a massage that was so fragrant and relaxing with the all the sounds of of the forest and the excellent massage.... ahhhhh.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, but with a few reservations. Pros: excellent service ( I know some other reviews here say the service is sub-par, but we found the hotel and restaurant staff to be incredibly helpful, friendly, and nice); clean and comfortable (though somewhat dated) room; great bargain (our room included all three meals); terrific views of the volcano; beautiful grounds and pool area. Cons: weird smell in the reception area and in the room itself; the bathroom in our room had a strange bathtub/shower set up with no curtain or door; the windows don't open; it is right next to the road and you do hear traffic. I would recommend this hotel, it's not luxurious, but very nice for travelers on a budget.

This hotel has great views of the Volcano, but pretty much anywhere in La Fortuna does. They have great new rooms, but also some pretty lousy older rooms. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the newer ones, but heard from those that stayed in the older ones of bad smell and not enough space.

The hotel has 3 swimming pools, one of which is a kids pool, and 3 hot spring pools. Also has a pond on its grounds, which was home to many different birds.

Their breakfast is wonderful, with many options. The food at their restaurant is good, with large portions. The prices and choices are similar to what you would find in town, maybe a few dollars more, but with the cost of the cab ride into town its better to stay and eat at the hotel.

The tour operator in the lobby, sells the same packages as many in town, however they are at least $10-15 more expensive. We booked one tour with them to the hanging bridges, and when we got there our reservations weren't there. We paid our own way, and are in the process of trying to get our money back.

The hotel staff is nice, but they agree to almost anything, but sometimes they cannot deliver, in which case they will apologize with a smile. We would have rather them tell us up front if something was not possible so we can make other arrangements.

Over all a good stay, the only drawback is it is a $15 cab ride into town which is a bit far.
