“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This hotel has a great view of Volcano Arenal, is very central, nice, clean and has friendly owners and employees. The rooms are nice with air condition and good room service. It's cheap to do laundry and they do it in just a couple of hours. The breakfast is typical and very good. I can highly recommend this hotel.

There we were in need of one night's accommodations in the La Fortuna area during, of all times, Easter. We'd been at an unacceptable rental house so had to scramble. Using our cell phone, we were able to book this on a booking site. That was it for availability. It wasn't easy to find, but Alberto talked us in. Not easy because we'd just driven from Monteverde and were suddenly confronted with another Costa Rica town with one way streets, etc. to contend with. We didn't have much if any choice of rooms and got the handicapped room on the first floor. A large room with a large bath area. Not fancy by any means, but workable. Alberto arranged for us to park right in front of the hotel all night. Also there is gated parking across the street. They close the hotel area off late at night and also have a guard. So it's pretty safe. A nice street to be on. Right across the street from the hotel is a little eating place - I can't remember the name - reasonable prices and good food. Very friendly as well. We also ate a good breakfast there. I wouldn't recommend the hotel breakfast. The outside eating area is in the shade, though, and has plenty of tables just to sit there. Almost next door is a nice super mercado. You have a great view of the volcano from anywhere on the street, and the town square is just at the corner a half block away and across the street diagonally. A nice fashion shop on the same corner, and a few nice boutiques just around the corner on the main street - just keep on the same sidewalk, don't cross the street for them. Some great buys to be had. A quality farmacia is across the main street from the boutiques. La Fortuna is a nice town. Looks a little scruffy and some strange characters here and there but overall an enjoyable visit. As you probably know by know, the volcano is not doing anything (2013) but is still an amazing sight.

we took the standard rooms and it was great. It was near the la fortuna downtown , which meant we could walk to most places. The taxi stand is right next to the hotel and this was very convenient . They were great with recommendations , booking tours and accommodating us .

The breakfast in the mornings was also good. Make Sure you tell them about early morning plans so the breakfast is ready. One of the days the breakfast was served late after we left. After that whenever we told them how early we would leave , the breakfast would be ready.

Good value , great stay

Good recomendation for Las Colinas Boutique! We´ve got the honeymoon suite and it was really nice. Very clean and nice view. We took a look at other rooms...and they´re smaler but also clean and with aircondition etc.
Breakfast was not to bad: pancakes, toast, juice etc. but no big selection of cold cuts.

Hope you will enjoy vacation en el Arenal...its very beautiful!!!

The family at Hotel Las Colinas made my Birthday in Arenal enjoyable. From finding me a Philips to change out my gopro kit, to the tasty breakfast and the smiley/cute front desk girl who surprised me with a birthday cake, I can easily recommended Hotel Las Colinas for your in town stay. The beds are comfortable, the AC and wifi work and so does the hot water. The views from the private balcony and public balcony are decent. I recommended taking picks early in the morning, I found that there were no clouds covering the top of the volcano around then. Also, if you are considering rafting bring your water shoes or you could purchase a decent pair next door for $8. After dinner you'll find about 5 blocks to stroll around and a central park which is safe at night to people watch.

We booked this hotel because of its central location right off the square in la Fortuna, and if you want to stay in town, it seems like the best option. The location was great, as we could walk to restaurants, have ice cream in the square, and go to the supermarket right next door for wine to enjoy on the rooftop patio. We booked the Junior Honeymoon Suite, which had both an open shower and a Jacuzzi tub, and while it is definitely not a luxury hotel by any means, the room was adequate for what little time we spent in it – we were out adventuring all day! The young man at the front desk was super friendly and accommodating, and had a good restaurant recommendation for our first night (Rancho Perla). Breakfast was included but was sadly disappointing – they ran out of chorizo and rationed the eggs and platanos – but I think this is because there was a large EF tour group staying there. This was unfortunate, because the high school students kept us awake all night running past our room, screaming, etc. The second night, the patrons at the lively soda across the street kept us awake with constant yelling, motorcycle revving, and arm wrestling contests out on the sidewalk. So all in all, a decent budget hotel, good central location, friendly staff, but bring earplugs if you want to sleep!
