“Just The Job”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2011

I stayed in this hotel as part of a GAP tour in Costa Rica and I found it to be a very nice, clean, safe and friendly hotel and to be honest, I don´t think you can ask for more than that in any hotel.
It has a problem with noise but that is not the hotels fault as La Fortuna is a total tourist town with lots of bars. Las Colinas is right by the main square so of course noise is gonna be a bit of an issue.
The rooms are small but are very clean, air condidtioned and mine had a cool view of Arenal Volcano...quite the thing to wake up to in the morning. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the internet cafe attached to the hotel is extremely reasonable. I did not eat at the hotel but there are lots of cool cafes and restaurants nearby including a couple right across the street.
Sometimes what you see is what you get and as long as you are not looking for luxury, this palce isa fine and travellers need have no worries at all about staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view of Arenal.

We wanted to stay in a small family hotel and experience the culture of CR in La Fortuna. This hotel is right downtown and has very friendly and helpful staff, all family. The breakfast is good and loved the outdoor feel of the dining and patio areas. Our favorite was the patio where we could enjoy company and view the volcano. The staff was helpful in finding events we wanted to experience. If you want to stay in Costa Rica and not just in USA in another country, stay here!

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms open to patio

Thank you so much!
Your review describe exactly all the benefits that we always want to explain!!
Staing in La Fortuna is more stay in a town, In La Fortuna the 95% of the small bussines are owned from local people like us, the story is very different in other parts of Costa Rica where is easy to find people from all over the world instead than Costaricans, we are not proud of it, that is why we try to offer our guest a real experience.
For example during the breakfast time, if the guest want to learn to make Tortillas, my mom come to teach them, this is how we try to rescue our culture and make our guest to fell part of it!
Thank you to choose our family run bussines hotel!

Thank you for your enthusiasm and your recommendation!
Our hotel is located in La Fortuna Down town , the most beautiful town of Costa Rica, because still being small and quite, with all the services like restaurants, ice cream, stores and a cozy park !!
Also, la Fortuna is more than Volcano region, we have impresive rivers, lagoons, rain forest and cloud forest, we are in the middle of 4 National parks and 1 Humanity patrimonion.
Our hotel offer also Volunteering services in case that you want to make the difference by helping a small school or a reforesting program!
Feel free to ask, culture, people, enviroment and relax are just a few thinks of all the choices that you can enjoy in La Fortuna!
Thanks for the review!

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights and loved it. We had a room on the terrasse, which is really beautiful. Could sit out here daytime or evening. It provides a great view of the volcano hand has lovely flowering vines overhead. Our room was very spacious, clean and bright. We found the food really good - and so inexpensive. It was nice to have the restaurant right there instead of having to go out - we took all all our meals from there and ate them on the terrasse. As other reviewers mentioned, the staff at the front desk was very helpful in terms of suggesting and organizing tours, and it was helpful to have internet access from the terrasse. Be sure to ask Ivette for ideas of things to do - I heard afterwards that there is a place to swim in the river - wish we had gone to cool off at the end of a hot day. It was fun to look around the town and buy some little souvenirs, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests. We will stay here again if we are back in Arenal - highly recommended.

Thank you so much for your review! Is so nice to know that you loved our place!
The customer service is the mayor goal for us every day, we help our guest to enjoy their time here, so we give them tips to do, and there are many thinks to do without pay expensive tours!!
Also food is very important, we offer delicious Costarican food with homemade taste and fresh ingredients!!
The terrace garden is very appreciated from all our guest, this is someting that we decided to do in our remodel in 2008, we invest in our guests living 100 m2 of sitting area with lovely view , instead to build more rooms.
We hope to have you here next time!

My friend and I stayed here for three nights. I found the place to be very inviting. The upstairs terrace filled with flowers and tables and chairs facing a perfect view of the volcano was a great start to my visit. The rooms were simple, but clean. The maid cleaned every day, with new towels and sheets. Small, but tidy and clean washrooms! A big plus in a rainforested area such as Arenal. No bugs in the rooms at all too! Another great big plus for me. The TV and AC helped a lot during our down-times throughout our stay. The front desk staff were a great help in confiriming our tours and booking transportation shuttles. The buffet breakfast was minimal, but manageable. Eggs, toast, sausages, beans, coffee, and juice. Dinner buffet for $3.00 was what $3.00 could offer...not the greatest, food looked stale and nobody was touching it. But you could order on a separate menu that the chef decides upon. We tried the fish, rice, and salad dish for $7.00, little more expensive but delicious and well worth it. The staff were very friendly and most of them spoke good English to help us through on our stay. Overall, a well worth choice.

The staff here were wonderfully friendly and helpful. They were always around for a chat and advice. The food served on site was absolutely delicious and crazy cheap. The room was perfectly clean and very comfortable and we had a balcony with a hammock and a view of Arenal. I don't think I can say anything bad about the place. The restaurant across the street called Soda Viquez also had amazing food and great service. It was recommended by locals and many locals dined there.

This city was one of the highlights of our whole trip. The service and comfort we received at Hotel Las Colinas Boutique was the foundation to why we love La fortuna. From the time we checked in we were welcomed with open arms and given the sense of family. The terrace was better than expected; we had a clear view of the volcano. Our room was spacious and clean. The security was great. Not only did they have a security guard to watch our car parked outside at night, but it was close to the main road and in a well lit area. This cost effective hotel was close to everything. Their location made it easy to get back in forth to our different destinations, even at night. I would strongly recommend this hotel. When I return to La Fortuna, this hotel will be my choice.

Room Tip: Take the rooms on the terrace......loved the view.
