Just got back from 10 days in costa rica, and Hotel La Fortuna was the shining surprise of the places we stayed! I actually thought I was in the wrong building when my brother and I arrived - we were paying only 20 dollars per person per night. Manrique at the front desk was very nice and super helpful. There is a nice open air bar and restaurant downstairs, and they had a live guitarist the Saturday night that we were there. We wished that all the hotels we had were on par with Hotel La Fortuna. We enjoyed the free internet and being within walking distance to many places to eat and shop. The cabs are pretty cheap there as well, so it's not hard or $$$ to get to where you want to go.
