“A Day at the Hot Springs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

Our group of 5 adults had a great day at the Hot Springs. We used the adults only Shangri-La area until well after lunch, the individual 'cabanas' provided great shelter when a tropical shower hit. We then moved on to the busier 'waterfall 'area nearer the entrance that has hotter water, after a walk around the grounds that has some beautiful plants to see. The time we spent there didn't drag and we left feeling that the cost of entry was reasonable. Our lunch and dinner were both buffet's and would satisfy most people's tastes. There were different choices at dinner and lunch and we all left a little too well-fed (our fault!) and very relaxed.

Dear Geoff S

Thanks for your valuable review. We are pleased that your group of 5 decided to visit our Natural Paradise. Tabacon offers more than 20 different pools, waterfalls and ponds with different ambiences and temperatures that emerges directly from the Arenal Volcano providing a wellness experience. Our guests are able to decide if they stay in a tranquil pool or enjoy a natural massage in our main waterfall. Shangri-La Gardens is a secluded area in the upper part of the property exclusive for people over 18 years old. We are glad you enjoyed the buffet selection at Ave del Paraíso Restaurant where the most delicious ingredients are blended to offer world class cuisine. We look forward for you next visit.

“relaxing hot springs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

We stopped at Tabacon after doing the Arenal hike so it was much later in the day. I think like 6:00 p.m. We ate and then enjoyed the hot springs. They were amazing. Just wish I could have seen what they looked like in the daytime. Very relaxing. It is a bit expensive, but I have heard that Tabacon has the nicest hot springs compared to all the other places.

Dear Tanya P

We really appreciate your review. We are glad you decided to visit the only natural thermal mineral springs in the Region after an adventurous hike near Arenal Volcano. You can experience the magic of the resort at day, with amazing forest views and the mystical and romantic ambience at night with the steam and lighting at the resort. Every single night our guests can enjoy an international themed buffet with the most enticing flavors. We look forward for your next visit!

“Had to Try It!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

My husband and I decided to go to Tabacon at about 7:30 at night. The price was a little less at night and we really enjoyed it. The hot springs are very dark at night (a little eerie) but it was not crowded at all. We had a lot of the pools to ourselves which was nice. The scenery really was beautiful. We were debating which hot springs to go to in the area, but ultimately decided on Tabacon and were happy we did. We only stayed about an hour and a half, but that was enough for us. They do have a little water slide which was fun! The staff was also very friendly.

“Overpriced, 80s style, rubbish buffet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

We really wanted to go to a volcanic hot spring after our experiences in Iceland but this was rubbish in comparison. We paid $80 per person for nighttime access to the springs and dinner. It wasn't worth it! The springs are nice - especially if you venture far from the pool at the bottom but there is some dodgy music being piped around which spoils the natural atmosphere. The changing rooms are cramped. During the day I can imagine the whole place is unbearably busy with kids running round, etc. The dinner after is a buffet and the food is average to say the least. It feels like a factory pushing people through and living off the fact it's one of the only springs in the area.

“Beautiful hot springs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

We went to Tabacon as part of a combo tour. The hot springs were all wonderful and there were so many to chose from pools to chose from. The have a swim up bar in one of the pools that was great but the drinks were very pricey ($9-$11 each). Our tour included a buffett dinner that we werent very impressed by. The food was good, but did not have much selection for a buffet.
