“why is this not #1 hotel?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2010

If I ever come back I am staying here. The hotel is clean, safe, and centrally located. There is a parking lot right in front with a 24 hour security person there. The reception desk is open till 10pm. There is coffee and tea in the reception whenever you want. There are 2 computers in the reception for use anytime you want. There is also wifi in the rooms but its kinda spotty which is my only complaint. The wifi does definitely work in the pool/jacuzzi area which is open 24 hours and the walkways outside of the rooms - theres a nice table and chairs area. One night after a long hike, I sat in the jacuzzi and placed my laptop on the edge and typed a few emails to home. The breakfast was great!! rice, fruit, fresh fruit, fresh juice, french toast, eggs to order, potatos, toast, coffee, and plantains. All buffet style.

There is a laundry right across the street which we used after a particularly long and dirty hike. And of course the central park is 1 block away with all the restaurants, ice cream shop, souvenir shop, banco national, etc. I would recommend you walk to the plaza and continue until you get to the corner at the end of the plaza and make a left at that corner. For 2 blocks there are some great interesting local foods. Also check out the supermarket for stuff like drinks, snacks, and shorts if you forgot your swimtrunks.

This hotel is in a great location. The view of the volcano from the pool and breakfast area is amazing. Its in a good location for access to the rest of the town and there is a very quick laundry service just across the road. Very handy when you've been travelling for some time.

The rooms are clean and the bathrooms spacious. There was air conditioning if needed but it was cool while we were there so it wasn't necessary.

The breakfast that's included is simple but good. Typical Costa Rican breakfast with fresh juice and eggs if you want them.

If you stay here it's well worth a trip out to one of the hot springs in the evening but don't go to Baldi Hot Springs unless you want a water park with hot water packed full of people. The others are quieter.

one of the best places to stay in la fortuna for budget travelers. the rooms are clean and large, all of the basics are there. the breakfast is tasty and includes a wide range of hot foods, cold cereals and fresh fruits and juices. there is onsite security for those who have rental cars. and the view of arenal volcano is one of the best outside of the major (and expensive) lodges. this is my second stay.

The location of this hotel is brilliant! Everyone had said we would not see the volcano at all! Well for 3 days we had fab views! Just breathtaking!

We had breakfast at the hotel which was very nice as a veggie sometimes meals can be an issue but not a problem throughout the whole trip to Costa Rica!
We had some laundry done across the street as we could not dry our wet clothes from the canal trips we had done the day before!!!
Getting up at 4.45am to see the sunrise around the volcano was amazing and the roof terrace is brilliant for just sitting and watching the puffs of smoke!
Fab hotel fab location!

A beautiful hotel in La Fortuna. With well maintained vegetation around the grounds, a great swimming pool and jacuzzi this hotel was a real find. Not only are you getting value, but it is a very new property, excellent quality and close to restaurants yet very quiet undisturbed grounds, clean and safe. there is a gate which is closed at night with security, even though the area is a quiet tourist town, so I really felt totally relaxed and safe.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Suitable for any traveler, from couples, to business to solo backpacker. The rooms have either a balcony or terrace so you can sit out and relax in the evening. Wifi is available too.
The jacuzzi really helps after a day of activities.

a nice hotel with great views of the volcano.although it is right in the centre, it is located in a quiet street. it was clean. breakfast was adequate. nice swimming pool. right opposite there is a laundry where they wash and dry your clothes for you. cheap and efficent service. nice communal areas where you can relax.

The staff at San Bosco was friendly and helpful. The hotel is walking distance from a large number of restaurants, shops, and other places. Breakfast was buffet-style. The food was amazing and very filling. You get a great view of the Arenal volcano peak from the swimming pool area. There is a garden area that smells fantastic and makes the entire hotel area smell very fresh. There was nothing spectacular about the room. It was just like many other hotel rooms, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was more than happy to suggest things to do and places to go in the little town and even offered to arrange some adventures. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay, definitely try San Bosco!
