“Perfect Spot in La Fortuna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We choose Lomas Del Volcan for specific reasons and they delivered. First, we wanted peace and quiet. It was about 1km off the main road and there was no traffic noise anywhere on the property. We were driving a rental car so it wasn't a problem for us. If you need a taxi to get around town, it could get expensive or time consuming. All tours we signed up for, though, came right to the front desk to pick us up.

Second, we wanted to feel like we were in Costa Rica and not in just another hotel anywhere on the planet. The gardens and property are a perfect blend of manicured and wild. I was able to sit out on my back porch and watch Toucans in the trees directly behind our room.

The breakfast was included with the stay and was typical Costa Rican style and delicious. We were out and about most of the day so didn't eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant but the prices appeared to be similar to other tourist restaurants ($20 per person average including beverage).

The pool was cool and the hot tub warm, but with the heat they both felt nice. If we return to La Fortuna, we will be staying at Lomas Del Volcan again!

Room Tip: Each room is a separate cabina. Our view of the volcano was partially blocked by trees but if we wan...

I absolutely loved this place. You couldn't ask for a prettier property and friendlier staff! No matter where you are on this property you have amazing views. The staff is very friendly and great you with a "Pura Vida" often. We were there during the final four basketball tournament rooting for our Wisconsin Badgers and our waiter would come by to check on our team and root right along with us! Breakfast was wonderful too. The omelet chef was so sweet. always a big smile. and with those views-I think everything tasted better.

Check in was easy our rooms were ready within 40 minutes of our arrival at 1pm. The grounds are so pretty , birds chirping all day and night , pool and hot tub are large and not crowded at all. Ok the beds are wood with a mattress topper, if you don't like a hard bed look elsewhere. The rooms are basically cabins. The complimentary breakfast is not bad but the staff makes it an awful experience. We had breakfast and dinner here and wouldn't have continued to eat there if it wasn't included.

We were a group of family and friends using 3 different cottages. We loved Lomas Del Volcan. We liked that it was away from the main road. The whole complex is very well maintained and the cottages were spacious and clean. The restaurant had nice selections and the food was very very good. Pool and hottub area was excellent. A very peaceful place next to the Volcano. Many thanks to Josie who helped us with reservations and placing our cottages together. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We originally found this spot on Trip Advisor and were drawn to the lovely photos and tranquil feel that it appeared to be. We were so happy because what you see is what you get! The view of the volcano is a spectacular sight and the pool and hot tub are a great way to unwind from your day from your activities. The staff was so helpful in setting up tours and welcoming us in. They even gave us good advice on other areas we were visiting outside of La Fortuna! The location is secluded which makes it nice and quiet as we noticed other hotels were close to the street! It is a trek to get up the path to the entrance of the hotel (especially if you are walking- as we did at night), but you can take a taxi anywhere to the hot springs to the park or hanging bridges, etc. Overall a great stay and we will be recommending to friends and family in the future!

We stayed here for 3 nights of our 11 nights in CR. The cabin we got, #503, was perfect! The volcano was right in our backyard! The entire grounds of the hotel are so beautiful. The beautiful plants all over the hotel are really what I think of when I think of Costa Rica.
The hotel staff weren't rude but they weren't exactly friendly either. I guess I'd describe them as indifferent. A little more excitement could go a long way. When we did ask them to call & make a reservation for us we felt like we were inconveniencing them.

The road into the hotel is very bumpy & all of our rides (we didn't have a car) liked to refer to it as our Costa Rican massage. We took taxi's to dinner which were around $7 each way for where we went.

We had the free breakfast everyday, which was comparable to all of the other hotel breakfasts we had while in CR. Many different choices, breads, fruits, rice, beans, coffee, juice, etc & an omelette station too. We ate lunch one day at the hotel & just thought it was ok. Unless you're just looking for the convenience of not leaving the hotel I'd suggest trying something different in town.

Room Tip: Cabin 503 has a perfect view of the volcano

Very unique cabins at the foot of volcano Arenal. Nice porch to relax with your drink. Lots of greenery & plenty of exotic birds. Nice place of nature lovers.
At the breakfast time we saw at a very close range a pair of the great carassow & a Caoti. Good breakfast.
