“Wow - not a usual hotel experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

this really is a find. Individual huts set in a natural environment at the base of the volcano. The rooms were beautiful and spacious with private decks off the back.
Service was excellent (Jonathan at front desk). Food was pretty good.
We walked the 2 km circle hike above the hotel grounds at 6 in the morning (toucans, spider monkeys, parakeets!!!) We saw more birds on this little walk than most of the parks we visited.
Some people may not like the remoteness (about 2 miles from La Fortuna) but the remoteness is exactly what we loved about it.
Complaints by others about the cold pool water? heck - it was a welcome relief from the hot humid weather
This hotel was one of the highlites of our trip

Room Tip: we were in room 308 - ask for any room near top of property (quieter and more private)

This was one of the most unexpected and wonderful experiences. The staff was super friendly and helpful at guiding us to our destinations. The cabin (small beautiful house) was clean and cozy. The bathroom was HUGE and very nice. The view from our back porch was like a postcard - the volcano was spectacular. We could hear the monkeys and other sounds of nature. There was a very nice pool and hot tub. Also, hiking trails on the property. The room had a TV for relaxing in the evening and a refrigerator for your beverages. We can't say enough and would highly recommend it and return again!

We stayed at the Lomas Del Volcan for two nights, as part of a Costa Rica tour. The hotel facilities, room, food and location is very very good. It was close to the town and the Baldi Hot Springs Spa, well worth a vist to enjoy the warm and cold baths.

Room Tip: All appear to be identical and well equipped, and fairly new.

The cabins were beautiful with modern touches. We particularly liked the back porch where we stayed in a forward most cabin which had clear views of the volcano. The landscaping at the resort was very tasteful and interesting. We saw many interesting birds and even a wild turkey wandering through the grounds! The pool was quite nice with a hot tub available. The breakfast was wonderful with many great choices. The front desk staff were really friendly and easy to talk to. We would highly recommend this hotel for people vacationing in the La Fortuna area.

Room Tip: Try to get a cabin up on the hill so that you have clear views of the volcano.

A beautiful garden setting with the volcano looming over everything. A caution though, that it is often hidden, at least partially, by a band of cloud. Staff was friendly and helpful, although a red flag should have gone up when they assigned us a room that the check in clerk said was his favorite. I think it was his way of mollifying us as it was one of the few without a view of the volcano. Still, a fantastic setting and a very good breakfast buffet. Worth a stay.

We loved our stay!!! We were there for three nights and four days and would definitely recommend it to others. We had looked at a number of other places and decided on Lomas Del Vocan because our first choice had booked up. Needless to say we were happy that this happened because we were able to see the other hotels while in the city and were very very pleased with our final choice. Great service, excellent restaurant (we had breakfast every morning and had dinner one night). They were very helpful in booking last minute day trips and confirming transportation for us. We highly suggest the ATV tour! It was locating right across from the entrance and it was wonderful. We got to ride for about 2 hours and our guide took us all over the town. We got to go into the backroads and see parts on the area we would have never seen. Very pleased with our stay there.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are located on top of some hills -- nice little workout. If you have trouble walki...
