The hotel grounds are beautiful,restaurant very nice and airy, food is good.The staff was helpful to us. The rooms were a disappointment, however.They need a gut rehab. The tile was cracked in the bathroom, the shower door didn't close all the way, the lamp was chipped in the main room.The beds and linens needed replacing. The walls needed painting.The pillows were very hard.Reminded me of a Red Roof Inn.If they were remodeled, it would make a huge difference.

Great hotel, great food, awesome natural experience, I went there and was full of iguanas, squirrels, and birds, everything was nice, the bathroom is just normal nothing fancy but it has everything very clean. They have everythin, pool, soccer and tennis fields, gardens with lots of flowers and great personel. 100%recommended

Tilajari is located in the countryside between San Carlos (Ciudad Quesada) and La Fortuna in Muelle, so it is rather out of the way. But it is a wonderful resort owned by a former Peace Corps member who fell in love with Costa RIca. His love shows. It's a beautiful resort with great amenities, good food, and a wonderful pool and whirlpool. There is a nice butterfly garden and they will arrange tours for you. Definitely a quiet place to spend a few days in paradise. It was neat to see all the beautiful birds who gather around the outside o the dining room. And of course an iguana or two.

Gorgeous place. . . .great food. . . .rooms are spacious and clean! The bed was comfortable and everything worked. . . .well, it worked when I left, at least. When I took a very welcome and wonderful hot shower at the end of a very long day, I thought "This is heaven!" Then I turned the water off, and it kept running. I called Reception and was horrified to find that there was no English-speaking person on board at night. I was a bit surprised since every guest I met while there was English-speaking! I was put on indefinite hold. . .and finally drew on my minimal plumbing experience and got it shut off. Then, I discovered to my horror, the stool didn't flush either. After that was fixed, I finally got to enjoy the very comfortable bed.
There are two reasons I didn't give Tilajari an "Excellent":
*No assistance with the plumbing problems - due to no English-speaking personnel on duty at night despite most of the guests being English-speaking.
*The resort is very spread out, and the lighting was not very good when walking to the rooms after dark
