“Wonderful overall dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Food was fantastic. Ordered a caprese salad to start, pesto sauce was delicious, locally-made mozzarella was very fresh, tomatoes were plump and juicy. Salmon and lentil salad entree was very tasty, salmon was cooked to perfection. Pecan pie with vanilla ice cream was really nice too, had it with an espresso and coffee liquor... Yummy.

Service was great, staff was really attentive. Live music was nice too and not loud. Ambiance and decor, fabulous.

Only caveat: place is pricey. For full meal with two glasses of wine and coffee, I paid ~80 USD including tip and tax.

“Dine at excellent level”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

We stayed at the Nayara in a half board formula, and dine every night at the Altamira restaurant.

Everything was perfect, from the kind and always available staff, to the incredible quality of the ingredients.

I normally don't expect much from an hotel restaurant (and we were a little disappointed from other Costa Rican places we've visited), but the Nayara is a totally different place, and the Altamira should not only visited even if you don't stay here, but should also have at least one Michelin star.

Unbelievable, really unbelievable.

“un. be. lievable.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

The view is incredible, there is a telescope available in the dining room to look at the volcano closer up. We were staying at a nearby hotel and came here for dinner because we enjoy fine dining and were NOT dissappointed! We even came back again the next night! All the fish this far up in the mountains was farmed so we both got steak both nights. My boyfriend said it was the best churasco he has ever had. My filet each night was also impeccable. The service is exceptional as well.

“Live Music, Delicious food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

We stayed here for our honeymoon and loved this restaurant! Breakfast was included in the room rate and we truly enjoyed eating here each morning. Lots of choices! Dinner was also perfect! There was a Guy playing the guitar while we ate which set the mood, so romantic! The food was also delicious! I tried out the three course $25 special which was a great value and so worth it. My only complaint was the margarita was really not good. Would definitely go back :)

“amazing food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

Much better than I would expect from a hotel. A little pricey for the quality, but considering its a hotel, that's to be expected. Wonderful waitstaff and beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're staying at the hotel.
