“La Fortuna Waterfall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

This is a powerful waterfall with two pools for swimming - one at the base of the fall, and a much calmer one just downstream. Beautiful falls, beautiful pools to swim in. There is, however, 500 stairs down to the base of the waterfall - and you have to walk back up all 500 of them. Not for the faint of heart.

“Very pretty sight with a rigorous climb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

The drive up was bumpy - but interesting. There is a small fee - and then a long bridge. You can view the falls from a high area - and go down some steps to get a better view - a nice one. You can go down many more slippery and narrow steps - we did not.

Had a chance to experience the long walk down to the actual waterfall and swim in the nice cool water...after the walk down the steep steps

“One Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

The La Fortuna waterfall was an amazing experience - not for the faint of heart. The 500+ steps down really got the heart rate going - but it was the 500 steps back up that was the real kicker. It is definately worth doing - just be prepared to have VERY sore legs for a day or two after. The water was absolutely beautiful and a welcome retreat.

I want to go back and spend a little more time exploring the trails around the waterfall.

“Great experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Nice waterfall and very invigorating swim. The path down to the pool at the base of the fall is quite arduous with some uneven steps and the climb back up to the car park is very tiring. Hotel arranged taxi to take us to the waterfall and there was no problem picking up one for return trip.
