“Large rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

This hotel has very large well decorated rooms with a clean and large bathroom. Our room (and all others?) had a small porch. There is a small garden, a communal kitchen with bbq, and a swimming pool. The owners are very friendly and helpfull. The main drawback is that they do not offer breakfast, but you can get it at a small restaurant across the street for 5$ per person. Overall a nice hotel, although it is rather expensive.

It is nice small family owned place. If you are looking for a resort with all amenities - then this is not the place. We really enjoyed our stay for three days. Hosts were very nice and enjoyed the relaxing outdoors. Supermarket being just outside the gate really helped the common kitchen area they have available.

Hotel Bijagua was a wonderful stay for my family of three. It was simple, clean, well-run, moderately-priced. It is a family business currently run primarily by the owners' son, David. He was extremely helpful, friendly, hard-working, and makes the hotel a welcoming environment. We would highly recommend staying here and wouldn't hesitate to book again when returning.

This is a family run small hotel (6 or 7 rooms). on the main road od La Fortuna. The room and the bathrooom in particular were OK but quite basic. The bed was not great and you could hear the noice of the traffic on the main road. The garden is nice but very small. And there is no breakfast available, though when asking the owner brought us a cup of coffee.
Altogether, if you can aford to spend 100 dollar or a little more, you are much better off checking some of the nice resort hotels outside La Fortuna. There is plenty of availability if you are not at peak season and you will get much better value for your money and a full breakfast.

The place is new, clean, has a nice pool outside, ac and more! They are charming! There is a shared kitchen with a BBQ, so you can cook your own food. There is also a supermarket just a few feet from the hotel. The hotel is situated in a safe neighborhood. The hosts are very helpful too. They let us stay all day when our ride from Interbus cancelled. Very convenient.

Enjoyed our time at this family-owned and run hotel. Pride in property. Very clean with air conditioning - didn't see a single bug here. On the edge of town which for us was ideal with 18 and 26 year olds who wanted to head into town each night. Supermarket is next store where we could purchase snacks, gatorade and wine. They do have a kitchen where we were able to keep our cold items and make coffee. This is not typical of the hotels advertised but the price was ideal - $70 a night for three in a room. Refreshing pool and beautiful gardens to return to after a day zip lining or canyoneering.
Owners are friendly and accommodating.

Sounds crazy but directly across the road are two small restaurants. Ate a great and inexpensive breakfast daily and next story is the best fried chicken any of us have had.

Room Tip: Second story rooms have a great view of the volcano and garden. Good photo spot.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Bijagua. It`s 5 minutes downtown from la Fortuna and you have a nice volcano view if your room is on the first floor. The staff does not speak English, but sometimes there is someone who translates. Nevertheless were they very friendly and they will always try to help you, if necessary by using google translate :) Breakfast is not included, but there is an area where you can eat your own breakfast and where you can get coffee from the hotel. There is a supermarket next door and we drove to the Mus Anni bakery (in la Fortuna, near the church) to buy our own bread every morning. We would recommend this hotel because it is clean, nice, not expensive and on a nice location.

Room Tip: First floor for the volcano view
