“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

The place is new, clean, has a nice pool outside, ac and more! They are charming! There is a shared kitchen with a BBQ, so you can cook your own food. There is also a supermarket just a few feet from the hotel. The hotel is situated in a safe neighborhood. The hosts are very helpful too. They let us stay all day when our ride from Interbus cancelled. Very convenient.

Enjoyed our time at this family-owned and run hotel. Pride in property. Very clean with air conditioning - didn't see a single bug here. On the edge of town which for us was ideal with 18 and 26 year olds who wanted to head into town each night. Supermarket is next store where we could purchase snacks, gatorade and wine. They do have a kitchen where we were able to keep our cold items and make coffee. This is not typical of the hotels advertised but the price was ideal - $70 a night for three in a room. Refreshing pool and beautiful gardens to return to after a day zip lining or canyoneering.
Owners are friendly and accommodating.

Sounds crazy but directly across the road are two small restaurants. Ate a great and inexpensive breakfast daily and next story is the best fried chicken any of us have had.

Room Tip: Second story rooms have a great view of the volcano and garden. Good photo spot.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Bijagua. It`s 5 minutes downtown from la Fortuna and you have a nice volcano view if your room is on the first floor. The staff does not speak English, but sometimes there is someone who translates. Nevertheless were they very friendly and they will always try to help you, if necessary by using google translate :) Breakfast is not included, but there is an area where you can eat your own breakfast and where you can get coffee from the hotel. There is a supermarket next door and we drove to the Mus Anni bakery (in la Fortuna, near the church) to buy our own bread every morning. We would recommend this hotel because it is clean, nice, not expensive and on a nice location.

Room Tip: First floor for the volcano view

Wonderful hosts - very kind, friendly and helpful. Hotel is a little out of town but quiet and set in a lovely garden with beautiful view of Arenal volcano. Room was basic but pleasant with a little balcony. Breakfast was down the road in the town and was simply delicious and huge!!! We did have a little trouble sleeping as an animal kept running over the roof. Overall - a very good hotel and value for money.

Room Tip: Try to take a room that is not on the top floor... in case of animals in the night!!!

First off, I have to say the hosts (Cecilia and Jorge) were very very friendly and made us feel at home. The rooms were very neat and had a patio with an excellent view to Volcano. The whole place was surrounded by exotic tropical plants that made it look even more prettier. They had a separate kitchen where one can cook, make coffee etc., The supermarket is literally next door that really helped us to buy groceries etc., They had restaurants and sodas in walkable distance. The town center is literally a 10 minute walk (about 1 km) where there are lots of restaurants and shops. Overall, this is really worth a place staying.

Great place in La Fortuna. Excellent view of the Arenal volcano (we were really lucky with the weather) and not far from town (it's about a 10-15 min walk). Close to nice sodas and restaurants and just next to the supermarket. Very convenient location. The rooms were spacious and very clean with a nice balcony to sit in and observe the volcano. Cecilia, Alvaro and Jorge were really helpful and friendly hosts. Fantastic people! The gardens are nice and the pool refreshing and relaxing. Lots of birds can be seen and heard all day long. They have a nice outside dining area with a barbecue where you can fix your own breakfast, lunch or dinner (no fridge though). It's nice but on their website it seems like the breakfast is provided for you. It's actually not, but nothing to criticize; maybe just clarify it. The hosts will make any call for taxis, tours, etc., you may need. Really accommodating people!!

We stayed in Bijagua couple of days at the end of April, 2012. It is a very small hotel, but very cute. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean, the pool was always clean and the waterfall working, and the garden was very beautiful. There is a refrigerator in the room and the supermarket literally next door, very convenient. The manager (he is a brother-in-law of the owner), was very nice and helpful. He let us use his kitchen and made fresh coffee/tea every morning. They have free Wi-Fi and one computer to use in the lobby (if needed). The view of the volcano is absolutely gorgeous, especially from the second floor. The hotel is only 2 km from the downtown, and taxi costs $2 (just make sure the driver puts his meter from the start). This place and people who work there makes you feel very welcomed, they always open for any questions you might have and give you suggestions. I was even a bit upset when we were leaving. I would strongly recommend this hotel for somebody who is looking for a nice quiet place, with a great view and friendly people for a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Second floor has better view. Watch out for the taxi drivers
